Toby: As TT tracks go, I think it's slower in speed and highly "technical." Think about BW or SM and then ... shrink it. IMO: The key to driving great times at S.O.W. is careful study of how the turns are linked, and how setting up for one turn will affect the next two or three turns. I've found a mistake can throw you off line for one to two turns, costing you dearly on this smaller track.

IMHO: This is a great "transitional" track for AX/Q-DE drivers. As such, I think emphasis is more toward car control, looking ahead, and driving the line rather than "Huevos Grandes" and " Plegar de Cuero" like Fontana, Big Willow (and to a lesser extent, Buttonwillow). So, I think you should be ready for a track made for the "thinking" driver vs. the "brave" driver. There are even those TT drivers that won't do S.O.W. because the gearing and speed factors in their cars aren't fully utilized (I'm thinking about a conversation I had with the boys from Mirage  ).

Anyway, these are just my experiences, others will most likely disagree.

Either way, it's seat-time and a fun, technical track. I don't think you'll be disappointed. See you there.

I would also add to what Dan said that this track SOW, is terribly bumpy for a race car and far too tight on some of the turns for me and many others. By these fact though, it is a good transitional track for people from auto-x to a bigger track but do not be fooled, it is just as dangerous as big willow as I have seen cars roll over at SOW.

Have fun with it but soften your suspension and get ready to turn sharp!

Streets is indeed a good initiation to real "Track" events. Dan's sage advice of looking
ahead and linking corners is right-on.

I do take issue to his statement that Big Willow is not so much a "thinking" track, especially
since I don't "think" Dan has ever been there!

While many drivers poo-poo Willow as not being a technical track, I find there are plenty of
challenges beyond hanging on for dear life in Turn-8 while your car hops around on the bumps.

Just having a lot of turns is not what makes a track "technical". It's a fact that Big Willow
has more elevation changes than any track South of Laguna Seca. And while I have logged thousands
of miles there, I still find it a challenge - more so a technical challenge than a bravery thing.

I will add that Streets also has more elevation changes than Buttonwillow or Spring Mountain.
And do heed Kary's comment about safety - Streets has some nasty drop-offs. It would be prudent on
your first laps to observe, and plan your "escape" routes, in case you ever need them.

Dan, I like your new avatar. Did you decide to get in a quick photo op before Sunday's AX? I understand Steve G plans on taking that home this weekend. :P

Mark, Absolutely! That's just my 15-seconds of fame. It's about 14.35 to 14.40 seconds slower than the winning time against Steve G and Paul Y. two weeks ago. My avatar will likely change on Monday. Remember, last AX was all about PDL driving (Pure Dumb Luck). I don't expect to pull that off twice. :x

:?: Wow! What's so wrong about me and the "Dolphin"? Am I really that bad of a Driver? (Wait: don't answer that!)

... One of the nicest back-hand complements I've ever received...

Sunday should be fun. I'm prepared to take my seat at the back of the pack. (There seems to be a bit of 'revenge' aimed at the new guy in IS. )

Dan,
That is no way to talk!
Let's hear some confidence in your statements!
Like, "Don't anyone think about coming in last place, cause that's spots mine!"

And don't think of it as revenge... it's camaraderie!

Dano,

Don't worry about being in last place. I'm running in MI this year. With names like Duncan and Kinnenger running in MI last place is almost a given for me. Maybe we can start a new club for those of us in last place.

Yeah! We can call it the Number 1 Loser's Class. I understand you get free beer after the event if you come in last and join that class. 8) Free beer? I'm in! :roflmao:

Dan, as the current and defending BRI Champ, we'd like to see you "wear" the Dolphin proudly.

Give the Dolphin its due. Defend it to the end and don't give it up without a fight.

Make past Champs like Tom and Jess proud...make us all in I/S proud...
