Chuck's tires are good up to negative 3/32, he should have plenty to track time on that set. Once you pass through the steel belt section then you are back to fresh rubber again. When you can see inside the tire ...then it's time to replace them. :roflmao:

That is four tires mounted, balanced, taxes included. :D That is cheaper than the last 888's I bought! He said he could get them with a days notice. That sounds like the ticket to me.

Wow! I just got a set of RA-1's shaved and shipped 225/45/15's from Shackelford for $700.00 (included mounting at $15 per tire) so that is a smokin' deal, Leigh. Can your guy find 225/45/15's? The 225/50's rub in the front. :banghead:

I will actually buy a set.

The steel belts are wearing fast and that rubber inside the belts that Sean refers to doesn't stick quite as well. :D
So, with all of you on new rubber, I guess we will need to be on new rubber as well. :surr:

But, Chuck, do you have another excuse lined up? Your corded tires have been your post-run-session mantra lately. Give us a preview of what you are planning to use once your rubber is new.

That's easy:

Full-Depth Tread Squirm

(I was using a full depth left front RA-1 at Spring Mountain, and that was my excuse...)

That's only good for a couple of events, right? But, it does give you time to be really creative with the next one.

Don,
I will work on a good one! :D

In the mean time, we only have a short time to work this group buy thing out and get them ordered, delivered and installed before the June 15 DE at Fontana.
So, what's next? :?:

I am ordering Tires from Express Tire. It is a store specific deal with the San Marcos store so you must pick them up there. Richard is the guy. 760-471-1733 The price OTD, mounted and balanced for four RA1's, 225/50/15 is $615. Unmounted OTD is $542, or $135.50 each CASH ONLY for unmounted tires. I am buying a set of mounted and a set unmounted so he said a credit card would be fine.

I think the easiest way to proceed with this offer is for you to make arrangements directly with Richard at the number above, and mention the pricing he is offering for the Porsche club. If I can help let me know.

Cheers, Leigh

I'm with Leigh since this is in my backyard. Sounds like the best thing going anyway. John K, like you're having a problem on the 888s!? See you all at the PDS.

Ahhhrrrggg! :banghead: maybe this was too good to be true. Richard at Express Tire is having trouble locating RA1's... He will call me Monday with an update.

BTW, his price for the much maligned Triple 8's is $641.26 OTD mounted and balanced, or $598.56 carry out.

I will post an update on Monday

Thanks Jackie, I'm really enjoying the courses this year.

My 888s are fine for now, I agree with most in thinking the RA1 is faster for a longer period of time

No luck on RA1's from Richard at Express. His suppliers told him they were "backordered"... but he has no idea when or if some will become available to him. Sounds like 888's for me.

You might want to shave them. It might be worth it, and you might have better luck with the heat-cycling. I think Otto O. had his 888's shaved. Ask him if it helps.
