What time are you same dayers leaving to avoid traffic induced lateness? 6? what if we get caught out and miss the meeting shall we talk to Pete/martin when we get there?

Leave early - Mandatory 8:15 drivers meeting

Postby Carl Scragg on Sat Jun 13, 2009 9:36 am

Expect Monday morning rush hour traffic and plan accordingly. Leave early enough to get there by 8:00 if you're pre-tech'd, 7:00 if you want to tech at the track. The 8:15 drivers meeting is mandatory. If you miss the drivers meeting, you will likely miss your first run session.

Driving at realistc and relatively legal speeds you'll get there in about 1.75 hours with absolutely no traffic. Add to the fact that Temecula, Elsenore, Corona, Perris and Norco (all of which you'll drive near or thru) are all LA-bedroom communitites and their entire populations will be migrating to work in single-occupant vehicles westward at the intersections of I-15 and I-91 / I-15 and I-10, and I-15 and I-60 ... and you have a traffic wait-time of about 45 minutes to 1.5 hours northbound on the I-15 from 6:00 AM to about 8:30 AM.

If you're pulling a trailer and driving the legal speed limit of 55-MPH (okay, maybe 60mph) than adjust you departure accordingly. Also: 18-wheelers LOVE to get through the Inland Empire early, too. So trailer-haulers (Trailer Trash'ers?? :nono: ) get ready for a lot of company in the right two lanes. :(

If I were same-day driving and not pulling a trailer, I'd leave at 4:30 AM ... 5:00 AM at the very latest. That will put you to the track at about 7:00 to 7:30. :banghead: If I were trailering, I'd leave at 4:00 AM ... maybe even 3:30 AM. Of course, that's just me. I like getting up early and having the road to myself. Sleep is cheap.

IMHO: Better to be early than late to a track event. I'd rather nap in my car at the gate, than swear at the communters in the 5-lane 'parking lot' of the I-15 northbound.

Welcome to LA.... :surr:

(Note: I take the route from San Diego on I-15 North to the I-210 in the mornings every three months for a job near Rancho Cucamonga. I have to be onsite at 7:00 AM. I leave at 4:30 AM and drive 70-MPH to avoid the Men in The Black and White Sedans. The economic slow-down has reduced traffic somewhat, but I wouldn't hedge bets.)

Drivers for the Monday DE at the Speedway Infield:

To drive in the event you need one of the following;
1. Valid 2009 Zone 8 Permit
2. Valid Zone 8 Student Log-Book

If you have an older Z8 permit, you can renew with me Monday (I should be there 7:00am). Cost is $10.00 cash or check payable to PCA Zone 8.

I KNOW A LOT OF YOU FALL INTO THE "RENEW" CATEGORY - SEE ME AT THE EVENT! :!:

If you have a permit/license from another club (POC CR, TT, STS, SCCA, etc.), you need to get a 2009 PCA Zone 8 Permit.
Some of you I know already, but please bring your "other club" credentials. The Zone 8 permit allows you to run all our PCA Time Trials and DEs.
Again, Cost is $10.00 cash or check payable to PCA Zone 8.

I will have Log-Books for sale at the event - $10.00 cash or check payable to PCA Zone 8. You must have sufficient autocross or other
track experience to get a Log-Book and run as a student. The $10 for the book also covers your first year permit (after you get signed off).

Thanks in advance for helping to keep your credentials up-to-date!

Looking forward to sharing a great event with you.

Please see my reply to this 11th hour statement on the thread you posted specific to this issue....I seem to not be able to meet your specific requirements.
