Jackie, I'm sure you did that for educational purposes only, you are so thoughtful, always teaching...

I'm gonna go out on a limb that hopefully doesn't get me in trouble.

Watching the video a few times, the initial avoidance of Jackie was pretty good, but the second spin was completely avoidable.

The cause of the second spin was due to the Catch and Release driving technique. At the initial point of oversteer the wheel was released causing there to be NO control of the vehicle for a split second. Then you see flailing of arms trying to correct things, which was not going to work, because the wheels were not pointed where the driver thought they were.

Correct recovery/avoidance of this would have been as passing the back of Jackies car to Open the wheel up and widen the arc, heading much more towards pit lane as there was much more room available to the outside.

To substantiate my knowledge in how to deal with this type of situation, here is video from my first ever club race, just watch the first corner.

As Gary mentioned, I'm ALL about educating  Thanks for the insight Matt. That avoidance in the club race made our spins look like a walk in the park.

Matt,

I agree that the second spin was completely avoidable and I was very unhappy that I wasn't able to control the car as I wanted to. I was able to complete both of my primary goals. 1. Avoid hitting the car in front of me and 2. stay out of the dirt at the track out of Turn 9, which has a nasty habit of flicking cars back across the track or into the pit wall.

The more I watch the video, the easier it is to see how much room I actually had to manuever. Things look a lot different at real speed (80-90 mph) and I was concentrating on avoiding the red car in front of me when my rear wheels hit the marbles. It is a lesson learned and I'm glad that no cars or people were harmed during the filming of this spin.

Well---you have always beat me up pretty good so I should be an easy target this saturday-------havent sat in my car in a year and a half and barely know how to turn the thing on------right now you could beat me up in a VW Bug but, I will take it like a man. I was hoping that they would create a new fat old guy class--I might do OK there. Looking forward to seeing everybody.

No more classes, please! Besides Toby, you are younger than most of us. We have a new driver in the class as well. My husband. (When he beats me, I'll probably retire :surr: )
