Martin,

How do you register as a driver for $75? The on-line registration automatically defaults to $150 as a student.

I think I have it fixed now. The settings on motorsportreg are a little strange. :surr:

Martin,

Motorsportreg will still not let you register as a driver.

It looks like it is fixed now. Leigh Rayner fixed my mistakes.(Thanks for that) :burnout:
Here is the new plan. First you register as a driver for $75 (default), then you register for the school.

Motorsportreg has prompted me to consider a new avatar

Jad was right how do we sign up? I entered but am only shown as "wait listed" with only 15 drivers shown. Seeings as several others are in the same category I can say "It wasn't me" I think :banghead: or is it :roflmao:

Hey Ralph you are wait-listed because we were debating whether or not to let you drive with us :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:
Seriously though there is some weird stuff happening with the "reg". I took you and a few others off the wait-list. In case it happens again, I will manually over-ride it.

For those new to DE or coming over from Autocross, the best investment you can make for this event at Qualcomm stadium, without question, is fresh brake fluid.

The speeds will be higher than you're used to at the Q and the straights not long enough to sufficiently cool down the brakes before the next corner. Couple this with continuous lapping for 20-25 minutes and you can see how a tremendous amount of heat is built up.

As a side note, after testing the motorsport reg site, it's working fine now.

+1 on that, Peter. I know from experience. In my first DE, now several years ago, I lost the brakes in my second run session. After a tense moment or two, I got off the track and learned my day was done. Go down there with fresh fluid!

Speaking of fluids, dehydration will be a factor as well especially since the actual track sessions are much longer
than AX

+1. And if your pads are worn, replace them before the event (not after). Thin pads transfer heat to the fluid even faster. If in doubt, switch 'em out.

In my very first DE, about half way through the day, I got the dreaded sponge pedal on my 993 :surr: . I had assumed that all of that money that I paid to the dealer for annual service included changing the brake fluid (per the owners manual - every two years) . I checked into it and found that they only "inspected" it. :banghead:

So, unless you KNOW that your brake fluid has been changed in the last year (or two at the MAX), get it done! :burnout:

And if you are still using factory/"Porsche approved" brake fluid, consider changing to a higher temp fluid, like ATE. I wouldn't try to get two years of heavy race braking use out of the factory fluid - not after boiling my brakes at an Autocross in less than 3 years..

Yes. I agree with the above recommendations. Here's my 2 cents... Or is it no sence? :

1. Absolutley : brand new, high temp, top quality brake fluid.
2. Absolutley : replace your brake pads if 30% or less is left.
3. Also : consider tire wear. It will be much higher at a DE (one DE can destroy a set of tires if they are soft compounds).
4. Water hydration : years ago I installed a quart container (Longacher makes one). I installed it slightly above the height/level of my mouth so gravity would aid with demand. And I installed a "bite valve" (like those found in a Camel Back pack) attached to a plastic water line that I run up under my helmet. It's awesome to be able to get a "drink on demand" as I'm driving or sitting in the staging area.

Have fun... I know I will.
