Tom knows I am only kidding, right Tom? Tom?? bzzzzzzzzzz

Thanks Dan, but big tires? you must be thinking of someone else... I ran 245's in the rear and used ones at that. Also a softer suspension at the Q (ax) is beneficial, the stiffer the worse it is. That said an LS would help some for sure.
The sun was really a problem for me,honest!... I had to look to the very end of the track to see where to go because I could not see the track about 200ft or so from the left hander... :surr: On my first timed I carried a ton of speed up the hill and the sharp left hander came up a little quick.. Sorry Jennifer!!
2nd timed run I used the look far ahead feature so when I was blinded I was pointed in the right direction.. , third run was a stupid mistake and pushed at the very end and spun, the car was dead and if you saw I was stranded for a bit, the ground side came off my battery.. easy fix and I was on my way. I will beat Erik someday. ..all it will take is you and I doing a little engine swap before the event... :beerchug:

I am really just kidding Dan A.! Your driving was pretty much Zen and the Sun - great! I just need an excuse to get more aggressive while learning and setting up the car, and I'm gonna be taking out some cones. The Cayman is wider than the 911.

The red run group was intense as a corner worker because the track was so fast, and the start hadn't spaced you guys out enough yet. GOOD JOB you fast guys and gals - especially - Action Jackson (aka Ms. Corwin)!

Buy a BMW and go run with them, ya whiner! They don't let other marques win TTOD.

...but the sun was in my eyes...

Isn't that #6 on the official excuses list? No, I think it's more like #24. I liked your old "broke my stub axle" excuse better--more realistic, original, and verifiable.

So i wonder if BMW club would ever let a "slightly" modified blue racecar run at one of there events?? haha maybe one of these days.

As some of you have noticed, the smurf has a pretty short 3rd gear ratio but its still good for 90 mph redline. that track was Awesome!!! :D i've never had that ting so wound up in 3rd, i was almost ready to grab 4th!!
I was able to demo an in-car camera from that father son team who should up loaning thos things out. will post the link as soon as I get it.

As far as timed runs go i actually went .04 slower than my second practice session with a passenger!! id say that lunch time warm track was very optimal. cooled of a lot for timed runs, almost had to turn on the head light haha, but i guess they have the time change for a reason.

Overall a very very fun day, the club and auto-x chairs did a great job at digging themselves out of that behind schedule morning.

P.s. Dan after replacing your 8 plus year old spark plugs with broken heads I'm sure you had fun with a few more ponies helping pedal you around that fast track :D

Oh ya, they will let you run, but when you win TTOD, they will give you the "1st in X class" award and give the TTOD trophy to the first BMW, even if you were faster. BTDT (in 2002, anyway, maybe they've changed procedures now?) They will also want you to have an instructor if you've never run with them before, no matter what your experience level is. I talked them down to a check ride by the CDI, and he got out after one lap and said I was good to go by myself. You might want to talk to Peter, Matt or Jim Binford and get them to vouch for your experience with the event chair or CDI before showing up out of the blue, just to avoid any last minute confusion.

I think you're right, I went a tenth faster in the second practice with a passenger, too. The track slowed down a bit in the late afternoon. I couldn't get any heat into my R430 compound tires until the 3rd run. i haven't been able to find any used R250 compound yet (I'm too cheap to buy brand new ones), and they don't make my sizes in the R175s, so the car isn't really ideal for AX the way it is. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. :D
