Buying a 2005 Boxster

A place to hang out and discuss all things Porsche.

I'm not 100% certain, but I don't think the 987 ('05+ Boxster) comes with M030. I think the PSAM replaces this options. Then you can add Sport Chrono on top of that. But I'll know more in a day or so as I am going to be studying the option list of the 987 very carefully.

Mike D is right - the 030 option on the 986 was replaced by PASM - active suspension on the 987.

I DO have a 987 PASM with Sport Chrono and Adaptive Sport Seats in stock right now.

If anyone would like to come test drive it, please just call me to schedule an appointment.

Don't listen to Martin. He drives like an old lady!

Since no one else bothered to actually answer 'eslai's questions...

The AX starts at 7 for registration. There is usually a driver's meeting somewhere between 8 and 8:30, and the track goes "hot" at about 9am (the stadium only allows actual driving stuff between 9am and 5pm to avoid noise complaints from neighbors).

Bring your helmet - normally only registered drivers and instructors go out (no riders), but I think we may be able to get you a lap with a Boxster instructor so you can see what it feels like out there.

If you are serious, I would suggest trying to get there by 8 and attending the drivers' meeting, which will be held next to a large trailer with Porsche all over it. Talk to the event people and I am pretty sure we can work out something during the practice runs.

We have practice sessions from 9am until around 2-3pm, at which point we run the timed run sessions (trust me - no riders from this point onwards).

There is lots of information about Autocrossing on the PCA-SDR web pages as well.

As a Boxster driver (and instructor) I would be happy to talk with you about equipment choices.

Darn it, I got there way too late--around 2:00 or so, before the yellow group started timed runs.

Didn't get a chance to talk to a lot of you before I had to leave. Kim, I saw you out there I believe; Martin, I heard them call your name and MikeD was in the yellow car with the matching tonneau right?

Anyhow, I'll have to try another day.

I did go yesterday and test drive the Boxster that Chris mentioned in this thread. I'm guessing its the same one that y'all saw today at Qualcomm.

Loved it, pretty much! Now I just have to fight my finacial sensibilities...

Didn't stay to see how the numbers ended up, but hope y'all did well.

Nope, wasn't me. My car is silver. Plus I didn't get my car back from Pioneer until Friday so I couldn't make it today.

The yellow Boxster with the matching aero shell tonneau was Mike Page.

Just a follow-up, I ordered a Seal Gray Metallic Boxster S yesterday with PASM and sport chrono among other little doo-dads. Thanks for all the advice guys--hopefully I'll see the car in May and maybe take it out for a little cone-killing after that!
