MR LIPP wrote:Somebody who cares a lot more than I do about AX rules should chime in here about X car points.

The "points" of an X car are irrelevant for classification purposes, since all X cars run in the same class. Modification points for X cars, however, do need to be determined and relate to the level of safety equipment required for driving events under the rules, just like all other cars. Safety equipment requirements are outlined in Section XIII Part W:
If the car is, or at some point in its life was, street legal:
Points totals must be tabulated as any CC1-16 class car would, using the same rules as the they do (Section III, Assessment of Points), from whatever factory stock was for that model car, whether Porsche or other make of vehicle.
From there, the same equipment would be required according to the schedules listed in Parts U & V of this section. For example, harnesses start at 200 points, roll bar/cages and the lug nuts at 400 points and driving suits at 500 points, just like with the CC1-16 classes.

If the car was never intended for use on any public road (a real race car), the following safety equipment is mandatory:
For Autocross and Time Trial/DE: Open-ended steel lug nuts are required
For Time Trial/DE Only: 5 or 6 point harnesses are required
Roll bar or cage is required
Driving suits, gloves, socks and boots
A securely fastened fire extinguisher or equivalent

Thanks, Tom. That is why I intend on getting my car dyno'ed. The number of points will help me to determine what level of safety equipment is needed, if any.

Seven of us are signed up already. 13 spots left! Don't miss this chance to use the alternate HP/WT calculation for your engine modification points instead of adding up all the individual mod points. And remember--if you are using a non-stock engine management system, or have had the programming changed in the original Bosch Motronics DME, you MUST dyno the car to determine the power output under the rules now--"chipping" or "flashing" the ECU is no longer "free" under the new rules for 2012!

C'ya there!
