To oops is human! :banghead:
I am the one responsible for the trophies this year and have been for the last few years...
My sincerest apologies Keith for messing up your trophy. :(

I was the one that took over the trophy orders after the framed picture of each driver next to their car trophy was given. The pistons last year were my favorite to date and we were able to save close to $1000 over previous years invoices on trophies.
.
Perhaps the coaster / paper weight idea didn't go well for some and still others appreciated a trophy that could be useful.
(This was the direction I received from a friend on the board- "something that can be used")

I felt it more important to have the SDR logo on the trophies, the class, the driver's name, the place. (I was limited in surface area and budget constraints)
Honestly though, I could have done a better job and simply jammed in '11 AX Series... I could have, but I dropped the ball momentarily...

2 weeks before this event my mother died, but you know what I pulled it together and pulled off a pretty good event- a favorite of many guests.

I am pleased to receive so many calls and messages of support on this thread- thank you all!. I'm good my friends, I'm good. Next year will be better I promise. :D

Katina I don't think you have anything to apologize about. It was a great event.

You should have heard the uproar the year we didn't have awards, this was pre driver dinner so it was a bleak off season. I still have people mad at me about this, George, Malcom...

I also think we are being a little hard on Keith. His complaints are meant to be constructive and helpful. His passion comes across abrasive and insensitive, which i am sure is not the case.

But, I do think we should not let Keith have a radio at any club event...

While I was not there nor did I get a trophy , I am surprised that some would lambaste Keith personally on the forum while complaining this isnt the venue to do it. Sorry , but having the year of the series and that it was an ax , not even necessarily the name are basic things , that being said there are extenuating circumstances that can and did happen and Keith should have been more reserved in his complaint. I support the volunteers but also free speech ,even if you put your foot in your mouth on occasion , to learn how to be a bit more tactful. :beerchug:

Thank you , to all the volunteers.

Solved the problem (at least for our trophies). It helps to have a sticker machine / vinyl cutter :D

PM me if you want a set of silver "2011 AUTOCROSS" stickers to apply to your trophy.

:roflmao:

A couple of thoughts. First, it's hard to ignore Keith's contributions to the club over the years. Yea, he can be loud, but he has a lot to offer.

I was amazed by these trophies. If you know anything about metalworking or machining these are works of art. Maybe we take work like this for granted in the age of computer aided machining. Even so it took a great deal of effort to create these trophies.

..and the awards dinner was awesome.

Martin - thank you for posting a picture and solution for the trophy. I'll PM you.

I wasn't at the dinner to receive my award but seeing it now I will locate it and take it. It is special.

Having been responsible for the 2008 and 2009 AX trophies when I was AX chair, I know how much work it can take to meet the budget, find something unique, get the correct name, spelling, car class, # place to the award manufacturer and then make sure they did it correctly and if not, get it corrected.

Thank you for doing/coordinating the awards again  Katina.

Nice trophy idea Martin. When I get mine, I will do the same.

Jerry, when will you hand out the trophies to us? Next AX?

Cheers,
Hassan

The stickers will be free, just PM Martin so he knows how many to make and he can bring them to the next AX.

I know. You may not have noticed my gizmo, since it ended up on the next line.

My comment about Keith was in reference to his rant that started this thread.

BTW Keith can read the AX results any time I am in charge. 8)

Well in reference to the rant that started this thread...
A simple call would have sufficed. Our friend is well aware that I have been in charge of the dinner and awards.
I can't imagine why it was done publicly, perhaps the individual just wanted me admit to it publicly, which I did.
I politely request that it all end. I'm over it. Life's too short to allow attacks like this take away from today... :o
Martin Reinhardt has a solution and again I'll do a better job next time...

My friends, the response of support has warmed my lil corazon, thank you all for the messages, e-mails, and calls of support.
I say let's all just move on and not let this rob us of another minute today. :burnout:

To the powers that be, if you are going to censure some of the posts just remove the thread , maybe leave martins post regrading the fix. Just a suggestion.
