2005 auto-x/TT rules

Just striving for clarity/lack of ambiguity, that's all.

It's nice to finally have the rules, whether all of us agree or not, so we know what class we're in.

Was an LSD optional on a 2002 Boxster S? ;)

Agreed. I used them for quite a few events (TT and AX). Cheap, sticky, and with decent wear.

Apology accepted. How anyone could have thought that sitting in a chair pushing a couple buttons on a mouse and staring at a cathode ray tube was anything like surfing is beyond me. As you know, I prefer "fishing" the web as a more appropriate metaphor.

No. I like getting my dolphin polished.

And isn't your wife getting sick of looking at that brass dophin?
This is a big "YES". Ever since the Hauptmans turned it into a surfie storm trooper she has been less enamored of it. I came home the other day and noticed she had stuck a little paper cocktail umbrella down the muzzle of the .45 automatic they had put in his left hand, errrr, fin. She thinks he needs a little "peace-ing out." I tried to tell her he is a symbol of a certain amount of controlled aggression, but she's not buying it.

Dan, Dan, Dan. Since the single biggest factor in lap times besides the driver is the tires, I don't see how you didn't see this coming. If R-compounds are allowed in the class, you are going to give away a lot if you don't run them. The only reason not to do it is to save $$$, or to maintain the slower and more progressive breakaway characteristics of a street tire, which can aid an inexperienced driver in maintaining control of the car.

Well Tom, looks like my days of tasting your exhaust have come to an end. With the realization that my newly installed Koni's and LSD get hit with points; and if I get a point for Azenis supposedly "stickier/better" compound/tread design, I'm now comfortably seated at the bottom of GP with 7 points:

2 Points: Springs
2 Points: Shocks (cr@p, cr@p, cr@p)
2 Points: LSD 8)
1 Point: Azenis "soft-er Compound" points

Okay Jerry Sturm, what kind of fuel are you running? :? I've grown accustomed to Tom Tweed's flavor (and Kinkaid's, too)! 8) Is it a Cabernet, Merlot, or a blend?

Should be an interesting field.

GP? Talk about jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire, you are in a LOT of trouble now, Danno. I'd say the only thing that could save you at this point is a turbo and some Hoosier A3S04s. 8)

After thinking about it, I'm wondering if I'm going to be alone hopping to GP.

Kinkaid? You got springs, shocks, sway bars, tires. You gonna join the GP crowd? Jerry Mize? You got Springs, shocks, tires, .... anything else? Another GP driver? Carolyn Torber-Hayes? You got Springs, Torsion bars, shocks(?), tires, sway bar(?). Will you be joining the guys in GP? We could see quite a transition from GS/S in 2004 to GP in 2005. (And they said there weren't going to be any dramatic changes in run groups   ) .

Jerry Sturm, I'm thinkin' you're in for some company! 8) We'll have to see how the whole thing 'specs' out  .

I think a more germane question is if there is going to be ANYONE left in ANY of the lower Street Stock classes, AS/S-HS/S???

Did "externally adjusted shocks" get lost in translation? How anyone could lump Koni’s rather dismal 3-click adjustable (Sport) shocks in with an “external reservoir” 3-way adjustable shock like Moton is beyond me. The punishment seems rather punitive.

Hey, with the only the first 50 pounds now "free" for weight deduction I want to get a "Fat Boy" credit :D

I was talking to Martin Reinhardt the other day and discovered he weighs 115 pounds less than me!!!

I think we should have some credit or penalty for pounds we weigh above or below a certain average weight driver. After all, they weigh the driver and car in F1 to check the weight limit

P.S. The average "person" in USA weighed in at 177 pounds in 2002.

I'm with you Bob. Perhaps we should just include driver weight in the minimum and/or make Martin run with a ballast.

Steve G,

I was following the thread between you and David M. on weight versus owners manual curb weight and I want to make sure I am following this correctly.

Is the rule for RSA's that we should compare the weight of our cars now with the curb weight of a C2 as per the C2 manual or the RSA weight from the RSA supplement? Is this with or without fuel - a tank of gas weighs 130 lbs.

Also for my clarification, what exactly does the 'curb' weight represent? For instance, the sunroof mechanism weighs 30 lbs or so etc. etc. so a de-contented car or a RSA with out radio, AC and sunroof probably weighs 100 lbs less from the factory based on these options.

Thanks for all of your help on this and I apologize for all the clarification that you seem to have to do - we just aren't that sharp!
