Martin-

Can you clarify this statement a bit for me, please? Does this mean no "X" cars at all, and no non-member drivers are allowed for this event, as they are at our autox and TT events now? Or does it mean that only the "school" portion of the event (for students requiring instructors) is restricted and open only to PCA members in Porsche cars? It's not completely clear to me the way it is worded.

Thx,
TT

Tom,

To clarify, that language is from the PDS and does not apply to the DE School. The school is for PCA members ONLY, but the member can bring whatever car they wish. We understand a member may not want to bring their concours car, but may have an X car (an Altima comes to mind or is that an Ultima  ), that is better suited for a track day.

We also realize that a lot of drivers in our DE and TT are not members, but hold Competition Licenses when they run with us. Those people will be designated as drivers and not students.

Hope that helps :beerchug:

Thanks, Peter, that's clear now. I have an acquaintance who is club-licensed for W2W in karts, and is an instructor for Speed Ventures and the Viper Club at track days, and I mentioned that we had this event coming up at the Q. He was interested in driving with us in his Honda S2000, but I didn't know if he would be allowed the way it was originally written. I told him to email you and Martin before trying to register.

Signed up, and i'll be a first timer to a DE as well. After 2 years of AX, I figure it is a good time to progress up. Looking forward to it!

Just a reminder that the DE is being held at Qualcomm on Saturday July 31st.

NO ZONE 8 POINTS TO CONVERT OR CALCULATE INTO ZONE 7 SYSTEM BASE AND MODIFICATION POINTS.
NO BRI POINTS TO HAGGLE OVER
NO NEW CLASSES TO WORRY ABOUT
NO. NO. NO!!
JUST A GOOD TIME WITH YOUR BUDDIES AND EXCUSES ON WHY YOU "HAD" TO GIVE HIM A POINT BY BECAUSE:
1. I was just trying to burn off old tires that were practically down to the cords anyway.
2. I'm working out the set up to my new suspension.
3. My car is not set up for parking lot events.
4. I drank too much last night.
5. It must have been something I ate this morning.
6. "The sun was in my eyes."
7. And the 'ol stand by, "That wasn't a point by, I was giving you the bird".

That's amazing! It's like you know what I'm going to say 10 days before I even start drinking! But you left out:

8. I was sandbagging on the DE course so that no one finds out I am sandbagging on my Zone 7 modification points

Students must have two seats to participate. The instructor has to sit somewhere.

Ok, Mark thanks for the info. So, if I don't go to this school, I can always do a regular DE as a first timer right?

Yes, you can do a regular DE as a first timer. You'll still need two seats to do any DE or TT event until you have earned your competition permit. I highly recommend this school to anyone who is thinking about or just beginning to venture into DE's and Time Trials. A DE at Qualcomm is a much smaller step up from Autcrossing than Auto Club Speedway, Big Willow, Buttonwillow or even Streets and will give you the knowledge and confidence to move up to those venues.

Is there a deadline for entry of the DE on the 31st? The flyer does not show one.

For everyone else it's Tuesday, July 27th.
