So, what is your new class?

Jackie,

When I registred there was no place to put your new class so I think I added it as a note to the reg team. Last night while getting Kari's account all settled at the site there were boxes to fill out and do so. I tried going back in and finding those boxes on my account but I guess they only come up when you actually register and not afterwards.

In case I spazed (which is entirely possible) my class is CC15.

In the case of the 2nd year "novice" classers, if they have run more than 6 events they are bumped per the rules.

Regarding the Ladies Class, in my mind that is a holdover to tradtion. The notion that women need a class of their own because they are somehow "not up" to competing with the men is just silly. Huge size and massive muscles have nothing to do with our sport. When looking at various racing sites I have noticed that many of the world class racers are rather slight framed gents. We see that even at our level of racing. Martin, Jad, Steve, Hassan, just to name a few are all fantastic drivers and would be a bit out of place in a group of football or basketball players. If anything a woman's build, fast reflexes, and ability to multi-task better than men (sorry guys, generally its just true) gives them an advantage. At this time where we are changing things why not really change them and do away with the "L" class?

PS. The multi-edits are becuase my fingers just don't seem to be working correctly this morning...must be my MASSIVE muscles working against me. :roflmao:

Jackie C wrote:Thanks for posting the classes here boys. It would be great if next time you register on Motorsports Reg, you could add this information. (Only 10 people have posted their new classes so far). Here's one for the powers that be. Several people who ran all their events in Novice Class last year are signed up in Novice class this year. How's that work? The new system is having Ladies classes???? Really? Where's the poll for that one? I'd appreciate any comments. :burnout:

As far as novice class goes here's the rule:

These classes are for novice drivers (in Autocross only). Therefore these classes are only for drivers with no performance driving experience within the last five years. Drivers are only eligible to participate in these classes for their first 6 events, after which they will be required to move to the correct class for their car. Moving to the correct class prematurely does not extend this number. Drivers and vehicles in all event types (AX, DE, TT) are required to have all necessary safety equipment as required for their level of modification (their normal class).So if a driver ran 4 events last year they can still run 2 more this year.

As for womens class that is not a poll issue as if we had a choice. That is a zone 8 rule.
The choice is up to the individual woman driver as outline in the Z-8 rules:

E. Women may choose to compete in classes on an equal basis with men, or they may have their own classes, appending the suffix "L" to any class listed in Section II Part D.

So no woman driver is being forced into a class; it is just an option.
(You should be glad we even let you vote in the board election!) - JOKING! :wink: :wink: :wink: :wink: :wink:Please don't hurt me!

It would also be nice if we could edit the class on MSR. Of course, I am sure everyone else got their class right the first time... :oops:

Personally, I think the Ladies Class is stupid and we shouldn't keep it, but understand why some women would feel more comfortable starting out that way.

I think there are some women who can come close to competing and beating men in many sports, but not normally the case. Socialization, physicality, reflexes, who knows, but hell if I'm not going to try! (It makes it sweet when we do well against men!)

My dad and I went through the new rules last night and came up with CC10 :rockon: Game on! lol

That was before I saw we overlooked to take points for weight reduction, so CC7 it is :D I personally think the new point system will make for a more exciting/competitive point battle. With everyone in a spread of a possible 17? new clases, Vs. the current system of 30 plus classes with sometimes 1-2 cars per class.

See you all this Saturday!

Jennifer, yes this is the Smurf. We came up with 680 pts CC7 , If i ever get out an do a TT in the smurf just for you I will enter in CC6 and play with Jad.
Base points were takin from a 81' 911 SC. Yes at one point the blue machine was cream yellow with a 3.0 litre. Seems like the new wide body cars, (997 C4 S) in particular get hit hard with a high amount of base points. Will be interesting to see which cars far best per CC class with the new sytem.

Erik,

I get a very different class for your car. One of us is doing something wrong or I am confused about the smurf???

Base 240
engine 179 to 247 hp is 150 points
tires 295's and 255's??? = 140 points
compound 710's = 40 points
springs = 20 points
sway bars = 20
limited slip = 20
gears = 20
brakes = 20
aero = 20

That is 690 with no weight, stock engine no points for other items I wasnt' sure about like camber plates, monoballs, strut brace????

Nooooooooooo :banghead: CC7 with the Smurf car and those gigantic tires, stripped interior and wicket 3.6l :surr:

At a Time Trial maybe I could have a chance against the Smurf car, but at an Autocross not even close and I can be happy if I am 4 seconds behind you. :bigcry:

Ok now I understand how Dan Andrews felt when he said: This is Bull***t :roflmao:

Yes, I do agree that the late model wide body's take a large "base hit" - my '06 C4S comes in at 470 base points - but wait - the stock tires (235 F, 305 R) add 130 points and the stock PASM another 20, so I'm at 620 points, stock. Add RA1's with 245 fronts gives me another 50, and the GT3 arms (to get a bit more camber) add another 20 to put me at 690 points, top of CC7, for an almost bone stock car.....

It will be fun to have people to compete against, but I do feel that I will be running against some fast, highly modified cars.

I just looked at the points again myself and looks like we are well into CC6 not CC7, I will have to consult with papa smurf :bowdown:,
Martin, when I saw you were in CC7 I kinda new something was not right (most likely with my addition :banghead: )

I'd plan on the Smurf being in CC6 possiby CC5 if I missed anything. Sorry for the Scare Jennifer :D

Hey Kim, did you forget to add points for tire width, or are you running 205's and 230's?

Hmmm... A couple of interesting things here. I am running 225s on the front, but have 255s on the rear (stock 17" wheels/tires). I was also using the online GGR calculator, which calculates differently than the Zone 8 rules, AND I forgot that the "standard" 986 Boxster used a 16" wheel (did they ever actually sell one with a 16" wheel - I have never seen on with less than the 17" wheel).

So, recalculation time:
GGR = 325 base points + 90 points for wheel size (7.5 f, 9 r) = 415 pts = AX 12
Zone 8 = 320 base points + 70 points for tire (225-205 = 20, 255-205 = 50) = 390 pts = CC13

Thanks for keeping me honest! CC13, not CC14. :surr:

Kim, aren't there 325 base points for the 00-02 Boxster? (not that it will make a difference in your class, unless you get the 265s for the rear instead of the 255s). And how come we aren't in an SS class? What's the difference here?
