The transfer solution for us was that I let him out of my car a lap before the end of the session so he could get his car ready, then I finished my lap, parked and jumped in his.

DOH! I will do this next time. Good idea.

One other issue I noticed was with student instructor parings. I was in the orange run group and my student was in yellow. He missed the parade lap since the yellow group was on pre-grid while I was on my last practice lap with him in my car.

that happened to my student too.

Yes - that will happen with the parade laps. The corner working/run group sessions were designed to eliminate conflicts between students and instructors driving and corner working AND to schedule groups so that instructors drive first, then the student drives immediately, so they can learn, then immediately apply.

Parade laps are something relatively new, and unless they hold the parade lap open for a long time, the last cars of the preceding instructor group may miss the parade lap.

With regular sessions, this isn't an issue. With the drivers being spaced at 10-12 second intervals, any decent sized run group will give you a couple of minutes to finish and switch without losing your position. PLUS, if you do not get there in time, no problem - you just run into the first lap of the next group.
