X-cars at AX

A place to hang out and discuss all things Porsche.

As long as all the cars conform to the rules, and club members have priority registration, I'm good. Don't want outlaw lists mainly because the air breathers among us will want to start adding "inline 4 cylinder cars" and that would definately rule out my AX vehicle of choice, which did in fact cost $500 to start, but is now a little past that.

Everybody makes some great points and it is inspiring wonderful thought and debate, but please gentlemen let's not get personal and respect that others viewpoints are not always the same as our own and that does not make it wrong.

And FWIW, I have piloted a bigger ship than anyone at the yacht club (USS Ronald Reagan CVN76) and don't even own a necklace!

And my opinion to the x-car is: "what do the rules say?" Seems like a certain controversial Neon should have been sound checked and had one opportunity to correct and then asked to leave if it did not conform to our ruleset.

Oh, one last thought, here is an excerpt from the tech form: X 924GTS, 911RSR, 934, 935, 959, Carrera GT & other factory race cars and exotics.
As you can see, there are Porsches on the x car list and pretty much nothing else.

I understand the present rationale and need ($) for allowing non Porsche Club members to drive X-Cars at our AXs. But, having nothing to do with being elitist, I prefer Porsches only, or with the member or affiliate who drives their X-Car occasionally.

We are an organized club of people who share a common interest – Porsches – and then participate in the various facets and activities of our club – racing, social, concours, etc.

I hope our detour will only be temporary, as dictated by the economy.

Hmmph! Cones! INDEED!

If they don't have gold chains and pinkie-blings around them, I'm not participating! (Now, where's my hard hat?)

I think the by-Laws stand until changes have been made by the Rules Committee and approved by the Board. Discretion to decide the fate on a per-driver basis still remains with the Event Chairs, as stipulated by the By-Laws, I believe. All rules, including mandatory check rides by CDI, Event Chairs, or Safety Chairs, Instructors accompanying the new Student/Driver, etc. still apply, to the best of my knowledge. Passing Tech Inspection, dB levels, safety equipment, etc., still apply, I think. Review the By-Laws and the Rule for Zone 8 for further clarification.

FWIW: a poll would be a good idea only for where people reside on the issue, but it would not effect the By-Laws or Zone 8 Competition Rules. It would be informative only.

That's my understanding, anyway.

How about this poll?

Do you prefer (choose one):

1. Allow non-Porsche X-cars to participate.
2. Disallow non-Porsche X-cars and work 2 corner sessions (3+ hours standing out there) instead.

Preference?
