So far this year, 7 females have participated in Autocrosses in "L" classes. Of that 7, 5 were the only persons to run in that class so far this year. Also, 3 of them ran only one event (so far) this year. Of the rest, 1 ran in all 5 events, 1 ran in 4 events, 1 ran in 3 events, and 1 ran in 2 events. The average number of "L" participants per event this year has been 3.4 (the maximum was 4, the minimum was 2).
In 2009, 9 females participated in Autocrosses in "L" classes. Of that 9, 4 were the only persons to run in that class all year. Also, 4 of them ran only one event in 2009 (one of them went on to particpate in the regular class with the men). Of the rest, 2 ran in 7 events,1 ran in 5 events, and 2 ran in 2 events. The average number of "L" participants per event in 2009 was 1.8 (the maximum was 4, the minimum was 1).
Conclusion:
While having "L" classes doesn't reduce the number of classes we have, we're only talking about 2-4 gals running in an "L" class at any given autocross, so eliminating the "L" classes doesn't really help with class consolidation that much.
However, I DO think if you've been autocrossing for, say, 4 years, and have approximately (oh I don't know) 30+ AX's, you should run with the boys and teach some of them a lesson

p.s. Jennifer/Martin, where did your Boxster go?
