Martin, when I saw you were in CC7 I kinda new something was not right (most likely with my addition :banghead: )

I'd plan on the Smurf being in CC6 possiby CC5 if I missed anything. Sorry for the Scare Jennifer :D

Cool, now we are in a similar class, we just need to get you out to the track... Come join you dad at streets in a couple weeks :D It would be great to have some competition....

Dave Diamond wrote:Kim, aren't there 325 base points for the 00-02 Boxster? (not that it will make a difference in your class, unless you get the 265s for the rear instead of the 255s). And how come we aren't in an SS class? What's the difference here?

I knew there were differences between the GGR online calculator and the Zone 8 calculations - and now, I am seeing differences between different versions of the Zone 8 docs!!! :banghead:

GGR has 325 base points for a base 2000-2002 Boxster (300 + 25 "bonus" for mid-engine).
Zone 8 "Approved 2011" rules have 320 as the base.
Zone 8 "2012" rules have 325 as the base.

HELP - can someone clarify WHICH set of rules apply? The "approved 2011" ones, or the "2012" ones? I am assuming we are using the "approved 2011" rules (http://zone8.pca.org/rules/2010/RuleChangesFor2011Approved.pdf), but is this correct, and is this what everyone is using to classify their car??? :?

GGR adds points for wheel size modifications above the "base" wheels for a specific model, while Zone 8 adds points for tire width above a 205 mm "base".

Yes - I could run in SS class (SS2 - 986 Boxsters 1997-2004), but I thought it would be more fun (and competition) to be in the CC group. 8)

I can't speak for Erik, but "no" :P

By the way, looks like you are bringing the 996 to Streets based on the registration....

Since I sold the 996 that would be difficult. It's been a while since i registered for an event, the last was an AX with the 996. I was so concerned about getting the class right I over looked which car. It will be the 993.

I guess you have to beat up on me this year after loosing to your dad last year.

Hola Kim.

Welcome to discrepancy #1. :beerchug: This very thing is why some have argued for not switching the class rules until 2012. While I am good with either, wouldn't it be defeating to discover something like this half way through the season and then be bumped, have rewards removed.etc etc.? I am sure we will find other issues along the way. Tom Brown can probably give you the correct answer on which to use, so contacting him would be good and I am sure he wants to make the correction.

If I were you, I would take the 2012 reading of the rules rather than the 2010. Since they are more inline with the GGR system, my guess is that the correct base number would be what matches them (325)

Cheers,
Mark

I've removed all the history, so people can only see the final result. Use these for classifying your cars.

My KP 968 is either top of CC10 or bottom of CC9 depending on the exact configuration that I run.

using the formula my base points are 390 and my mods add 180 to get 570. So even tho I will still be in X class I will be mentally in CC9.
