Top Gear Rules!

These guys totally get it. They capture the stlye, the sexiness, the passion and excitement of a great car with superb photography, scripting and sound. They aren't shy about having an opinion and always entertain.

Oh yeah, they like the Carrera GT too. The sound alone is worth it.

I only received an error message when trying to download the video. Is there another way to view the video. This show really is the best I have seen.

Otto,

Great video. We used to watch that in Saudi, great show, lot's of humor. All that sliding kind of reminded me of my first stint at WSIR. Brings back old memories, ha. ha!

Must have Bitorrent (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/morei ... 286&page=8).

I believe they may have Bitorrent software for Windows, but am not sure. Also, since it's a file sharing you should make sure it's safe to use on your PC.

I find the show entertaining, but not exactly useful most of the time. For example, their list of top times on their track sounds great until you realize half the times are done in the pooring rain (it is England) and half in the dry  At first I was really impressed by some of the cars beating a 911 GT3RS, until I saw the conditions the 911 ran it :nono:

Still a fun and well done show, just no consistency even within episodes in my opinion.....

Jad - The show is definitely not "rocket surgery" to quote a famous poster and Jeremy the host does prefer Italian and British cars. True, they do some wacky stuff, but I think their approach is entertaining and much better than some of the Motor Trend, Pimp My Ride, OC Chopper, snoozefests. Some highlights from the shows I've seen

Ariel Atom - Jeremys face contorted by acceleration and air pressure was hilarious

The comparison between the Porsche GT3 RSR and the Ferrari 430 CS was great - German efficiency vs italian style. The Stig produced identical times on the track

Indestructible Toyota truck. Their candidate for the most indestructible car. They totally abused this truck and left it underwater in the ocean and revived the thing.

BTW, anybody know of some other sites so I can compile a collection of shows?

Oh I agree it is VERY funny and entertaining and it is definitely programmed to record all episodes, but the more I watch, the more details seem to be missed. Motor Trend is basically a paid commercial for the vehicle and the little of the other shows I have seen were complete wastes of time. Top Gear is just hard to figure out, it is clearly not meant as a commercial, but it does not appear to be just for entertainment, and yet they seem to have quite a budget and get to abuse lots of really nice cars.

I guess I would just like a few more details of their tests. Does the Stig do 1 lap? The best lap? an average? Did the Audi diesel really make it to the top of England and back on a tank of gas? After 3/4 of the trip it was getting 36 mpg and needed 40 to make it, yet some how, and very entertainingly, it did. But why the miraculous ~50 mpg on the last leg? Gas is the filler? Or did they add a gallon for entertainment value. Don't really know with the show.

On a similar note, did anyone catch Rides last week? Tivo recorded it as it was about a Porsche. The Carrera GT speed record weekend at Taladega. The one Porsche has been promoting so much. The ironic part was they actually had the nerve to show Jay Leno lose it at 160 mph+

He came very close to killing himself in the car - which seemed to miss the detailed official writeup of the event  , but the Rides episode showed it. He was very lucky and spun in the middle of turn 3 with just the right momentum to spin 4-5 times right down the center of the track. David Donahue ended up taking off quickly in the other Carrera GT to 'rescue' him, but by then Jay was driving back into pit lane - from the wrong direction.

Pretty fun episode, though the other times I saw the show, it stunk. This episode was also a big advertisement for replica 550 spiders, but still fun if you can catch it.
