I guess the moral of the story is not to let a phantom Dietrich drive your enzo. I'm sure he has enough money to get of of this with just a totaled enzo. The price of the ramaining enzo's just went up.

Do they give the death penalty for irresponsible million dollar car murders?

Quote from the NBC news story:

"The car is registered to Eriksson, who claims he was a passenger in the vehicle and that it was being driven by a German named Dietrich who ran away, according to sheriff's Sgt. Philip Brooks."

Sounds lika a "my dog ate my homework" story to me.

Especially if you read all the details. He had a cut lip, there was blood on the driver's airbag, but not on the passenger's airbag, and his BAC was 0.09 - over the legal limit.

"Oh gosh, I've had too much to drink and crashed my car [felony drunk driving] while racing a McLaren on a public street [reckless driving, etc.]. I'd better slide over to the passenger seat before the cops get here, and use the SOD defense." :D

(For those not familiar with Law Enforcement slang, SOD = "Some Other Dude").

Hmm, how much of a genius will it take to sample the airbag blood and compare with his  , unless of course, the other dude was an identical twin with the same blood type and dna

Good point Jad, I'm sure where the newsclip states:

"Detectives were investigating whether Erikssen was actually the driver"

translates to:

"Detectives are waiting for the lab to complete the DNA study of the blood on the airbag". :)
