There are no more transponders available for rental for the Speed Festival. Does anyone have (or know of one) that I can borrow/rent?

Alan:
Check with Kary - maybe he has one to sell. If you want to do
this more than a few times, you really ought to have your own,
and for your car, maybe the installed/wired (instead of the
rechargeable version) would be better.
If Kary is out, you can buy a wired-in one from PCA Club Race;

I hate to sound cheap, but this is my first TT and have already committed a ton of money just to get onto the track (helmet, roll bar, harnesses, entry fee, etc). I know that if you do it a bunch the fixed item costs aren't a big deal but I want to make sure I am going to do it regularly before spending money on more relatively expensive items - especially those items that are so specific.
I'll probably just go without if I can't find one to borrow this time around and consider purchasing one once I become a regular.

Pegasus will ship transponders for free ( either hard wired or charger models) received mine today. (btw: you get both car (DC) and (AC) adapters with the kit).
I have no affiliation with Pegasus - just going by recommendation from Rennlist.

The ultralap will tell you your times but it won't send the data to the event computers so you won't have any official times (at least that is the way I think it works).

I have a spare battery type available with a charger. I'll be at the track on Thursday night through Sunday in the motorhome section and can bring it up.
E-mail me privately and we'll work out the details.

You guys really should consider getting something like this unit if you are going to spend hundreds of dollars for a lap timer. The AMB units that hook into the timing are $500 so why not get something that tells you more than a lap time....segment times, G loads, RPM's, MPH around the track....

If you need to rent a transponder, please see this thread:

I still recommend purchasing one from Kary if you plan to attend TT's even semi-regularly, but at least we now have an alternative for those who wish to rent.
