Hey folks,

Sorry for no P content . . . it'd be great if I could find someone down here to help me on this one . . .

I need to utilize the battery power on a golf cart for operating a piece of machinery out in the field . .. . actually a golf robot

I basically need a massive inverter . . . we need a "steady" 115v supply (this is pretty much available off the shelf with the amperage we require) and a 240v supply that would give a 30 amp boost for no more than 1/2 sec . . . this one's the challenge.

If the inverter becomes way too cost prohibitive, I'll probably just wire a switch that will re-direct the battery power to a dc motor running a generator head . . . .

Did some internet surfing and could only find 240V inverters/back up power supplies that were WAY overkill . . . like for entire computer data centers . . . any other links, ideas, or info?

Thanks,

Sean

You should put an ad up at the UCSD career center, or maybe the EE dept has a bulletin board. Maybe a student could do it as a senior project.

Thanks for the tip . . . that happens to be the way I got my first "real" engineering job.
