Steve:

I've heard there is a speed restricion of 60-MPH at El Toro. I've also heard it is strictly enforced, and that the base officials will cancel an event immediately if the speed limit is exceeded. Is this true?

Also, many drivers from SDR are involved in the 2007 parade, and are going to Portland this year (Aug. 5th through 11th, 2006) for a look at what to expect. So don't be discouraged by our absence. We have a big party to plan for in 2007

See you in September.

I'm in!

Steve and Dan;

Well I signed up a week ago and I would have to say that I'm quite impressed/enthused by the ease and functionality of OCR's registration process.

Once you register onto the website and enter your and your car's data, you are part of their data base. You can then register for a particular event and their website lets you know that you are signed up. You can then print out the pre-pay and tech forms and 90% of the form fields are already filled out for you. Additionally our good OC friends have adopted all of our forms essentially intact so everything is very familiar.

With the future of Qualcomm up in the air, there may more trips to El Toro in the offing for us poor SDR saps. I'm looking forward to checking it out.

I gotta say that the 60mph limit rumor is disconcerting if true. Got any response?

Also curious if there is a dB limit

See you next week and I hope we can get a few more guys on the line.

I had a blast and didnt see anyone with "radar" guns aimed at us..LOL

I know I was WAY over 60mph several times.

We ended up with close to 140 cars. 100+ of them where Porsches. I dont think Parade had much effect for some reason!

They where a little overwhelmed with the number of people that showed up, but that it to be expected when you have had trouble in the past filling your grids. I cant wait to run with them again. Great people. Fun atmosphere with music playing and the such.

How do I talk them into printing the timing sheets for each run group??

And how about some commentary on the loud speaker? I got to know people in Zone7 by the anouncers.

On the limiter in 2nd in the 924S many many places, shifted into 3rd entering the last slalom and carried it through the finish.....yes, over 60mph!

Good combination track, good job Steve and the OCR gang!

Driving El toro was quite fun. We didn t have a chance to do all 12 runs but getting 5 timed runs was better :)
Also seeing some other Non Pcars run the same course was fun.
Too bad there weren t more SDR drivers at this event.
Brad: Do you know when the results will be posted?

I have been checking the site for the results.. havent seen anything yet. I would have thought the results would have been up that night. It appeared most of the people running the event lived within 15min. of it (like we do with Qualcommapart)

I liked their system with the time slips. This is what I am accustomed too (all around the USA, PCA+SCCA) it allows you to view them and go over your runs (in your head).

I kept walking to the tent expecting to see sheets hanging up.. kind of like Pavlov's Dog :

It was good seeing you Tawfik!

Great suggestions on the posting of results as well as some commentary on the event.

This was the first event with the PA so it shouldn't be long before we find someone who likes to talk. :)

I don't see any reason why the posting of results couldn't be accommodated easily but I'll have to defer that to the timing experts. We may just need to ensure all classes are running together when doing registration and ask the timing wizards to push the print button every once in a while. :D

I'll mention this to Steve if he doesn't chime in here himself.

For the record, there are no longer any limitations imposed on us by El Toro - only the limitations imposed by PCA. This course ended up tighter than planned. Future courses at this and our other venues should be a bit more open and will include a little more "yahoo" when possible.

On behalf of the OCR crew, thanks for all of the SDR support!

David

Hi Gang! :D

I want to thank every one who attended the event. If you did not get your last 5 runs because you had to leave (we ran late)you have a $30 credit toward any event you enter the rest of this year. Please e-mail me your name. SEGUINA@COX.NET

OCR is still building it core team so many of us are wearing several hats. Last year OCR had two events with about 40 to 50 drivers. This year we have 11 events with 65+ drivers. Sooooooo I'm peddaling as fast as I can:)

One item that is being reassigned is the handling of results. Currently the gentleman handling it is wearing about 7 hats:)

Hope to have them up next week as he is out of town. Also, we are still missing a couple past events and the BRI index info on the results. Future event results should be posted within a couple days.

Really appreciate all the support and encouragement from SDR this year.

Have Fun! Steve Eguina - OCR Driving Events Mgmt Team

WOW :!: , can we start posting the results of events that will occur in the future? That way, I could just sleep in on those days I don't win. That would be very valuable knowledge

Sorry, had to say it.

I still think you guy's did a great job.

Just some minor tweaking and it will be on par with SDR (which I think has one of the best run AutoX events out there)

I can "help" a little bit. The 914Club site keeps me VERY busy, but I have enough resources that I could *probably* get you guy's some more volunteers with experience (website/timing/scoring/etc)

I'm normally good for generating "cars" for events via our clubsite. Keep the courses half+half with tight and fast.. and the 914 people will show up. Make it a 911 course over and over and over again and they get discouraged.

If I wanted to drag race down log straights... I would run at Barona Drags.

I also liked the fact that you are sticking to the SCCA "method" on course design. It is is nice to see a group on the same page/wavelength as the rest of the nation. It means I'm comfortable running any PCA or SCCA event if I choose to go out of area. It means I know what to expect when I show up (we call it consistancy in the road racing world..lol)
