After 3 months, lotsa design hurdles and a few beers, the Mirage Transporter was finally christened!
It started out as a dirt car hauler from the midwest. It had a lounge, workshop and tire racks. In the 90's it was used for 1 of the Indy teams. We (Jae Lee, Bill Dawson, Bill Hartsock, Mike and Jim Copp) pooled our funds, brought it out and began a full demo. The first hurdle was the height of the fender wells inside which was so eloquently pointed out by Roland Schmidt

We were able to design the bottom floor to accommodate the wheel arches and still manage to get a second floor in. To do it, we needed to use 3" square tubing and it gave us about 1.25" of extra height. We designed it so we can haul 5 cars (2 up top and 3 on the bottom)to some of the longer races without the need to take 5 pickups with trailers. We still have room underneath the bottom floor for some storage as well as the last 8' of the trailer. As an added bonus, the trailer came w/ a 40' x 20' awning. We can park all five cars underneath it and still have room to work...think Willow in Aug!
Still a few more tweeks to go, but 2007 should see us club racing some new venues!!!
