Last Tech session and Chase Cam system

I just picked up my new Chase Camera system and I absolutely love it. This is the system we saw at the last Tech Session. Randy Chase has his business right here in San Diego. James Wilson, formerly of JMC Motorsports, now works for Chase and he showed me every type of mount and how to best use them. The size and quality of all the components of this product make it possible to place it anywhere. I've always wanted to shoot video of the suspension moving and the tire's sidewall flexing. Now I can. I also got the suction cup mount for the unobstructed roof cam view! I'm going to start testing the system on my street Volvo NOW! Too cool.......

I dealt with James before at the JMC very helpful.
Jim Copp just got a complete Chase system for his race car, it's on my list now.
Does Chase have a retail location?

The video I posted earilier this month was using a ChaseCam PDR100 unit. Though this video has been converted to a lower resolution than the DVD quality video that this unit puts out natively.

There is a pretty good forum for questions on their site as there are some limitations to this unit, though it is good as these things go.

Thanks for the heads up, Kary. I'll try to make some time to learn what others before me have experienced. :D

Thanks for liking our stuff, guys!

Make sure you download (free) the newest Firmware Update (Version 6), new as of 01/09/2007.

Changes--

1) Contrast control for the LCD screen for better viewing in different light levels.

2) LCD screen will light up with any key pressed (like an iPod), initially we did not offer this to save battery power, but it is negligible.

3) Two-tenths second duration of Record ON/OFF switch is now required for recognition. This will help reduce the accidental switch actuation from shock. This has not been a problem, save for a few shifter kart customers that have severe vibration at certain frequencies. This should help ALL vibration issues.

4) You may now select the ability to view an external monitor or screen live while in Recording mode, via the #2 switch. Select "ON" or "OFF" for live screen viewing. Great for a rear-view camera or running our Picture-In-Picture/Split Screen processor. Sends an analog audio and video signal out of the "AV Output" plug, 3.5mm .

You can go here:

Or download the update.bin file directly and place onto your CF card: http://www.chasecam.com/sw/pdr01_00_06/update.bin

Thanks everyone!

Another update,

The ChaseCam PDR100 and PDR100-R now interfaces directly with MoTec data acquisition systems and dashes via the RS-232 digital interface system, and is being featured on all Porsche 997 Cup cars entering the US this year.

The operating system update that controlls this feature along with the G-Force overlay can be found here:

(Firmware Update Version 01.00.10 dated 2/26/2007).

Thanks!

Version 14 now up, better writing speed to Compact Flash cards, some PAL-system fixes, switch activation delays (for super-high-vibration like shifter karts), etc.

James,
This is a fresh approach in American marketing.....
Instead of planned obsolescence, and the need to throw out the old product, you guys let us keep our initial investment and just keep making the product better through FREE upgrades. It's much appreciated! :D
Good luck with your new 944 Spec project car.
