New 2007 AX Preregistration Policy:

As your 2007 autocross Pre-Registrars, we have to inform you of some changes that are to come in the preregistration process. Please keep in mind these changes have been made in order to streamline and save time in processing the preregistration.  Here they are...

1. It has been decided to eliminate the Annual Preregistration system used in 2006.

2. Each person will need to pre register for the Autocross and/or DE by the Tuesday before each event, unless an alternative date has been announced on the forum. If the preregistration form is mailed, it must be received by that Tuesday, (please allow 2 days sending time for snail mail). If the preregistration is faxed, the deadline is Midnight on that Tuesday.

3. If the preregistration is received after the deadline, we will do our best, but not guarantee, to enter the person in to the database and process as registered. This will be done in order to save time the morning of the event. However, the full price of the event will be charged.

4. Please use the most recent Registration and Tech Forms as important changes will be made to these forms. The new forms are posted and available on the website. A link to the "Forms" page is

http://www.pcasdr.org/porsche_events/prepare/forms/index.php

Thank you for your understanding our time constraints that have made these changes necessary. We’re looking forward to a fun and fast year!!!!

Thanks Jennifer;

I don't think any of that really needs explaining more than that.

One question: For those of us who received the very nice door prize of $40 towards AX or DE, how will we note that on our pre-registration materials?

Will we have to turn those in at the trailer when we redeem them? Needless to say, that pretty much negates the convenience for us and efficiency for you that the pre-pay system is designed for.

Enquiring minds want to know!

Hi Herb,

As far as the $40.00 Coupon redemption goes, go ahead and type/write on your registration form next to amount

‘Free $40.00 Certificate’ - or something similar :-)

Please bring the coupon with you and hand it in w/ your tech form at the tech table. Jackie and I will keep track of them.

Yes, you are right about the convenience going by the wayside. (Martin keeps reminding me what a pain it is to fax it in each time  ) We discovered in 2006 that the annuals were a bother. We had to make a separate set for each autocross anyway, and many people did not show up for each autocross after we had manually entered them in as registered.

One good thing that comes of this for the Drivers is that we can keep the changes to car classes & numbers up to date.

The dream solution would be an online registration process. 8)

Where can I file a protest? Oh that means I will have to spend some time on the couch

And no, I don't have the time to write the program for the online registration and direct import into the computer :nono:

Martin: PCA OCR has an online registration system for AX that is pretty easy to use. Maybe we can look into that?

I like their idea, but it would better to use the https protocol on the registration form for security purposes if we are going to request credit card information. http://infoconnsystems.com/AXReg/

We could use something similar as an alternative to faxing and maybe at a later point have a data upload process into the Autocross database.

Yes, yes. Online registration systems have been proposed in the past. But due to SDR unique requirements none of the of-the-shelf solutions will work. At the moment there are discussions about developing a custom solution. But that will take some time, need testing and evaluation, etc, etc. And therefore not be ready for the 2007 season.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

While I agree entirely with what Mike said about the unique requirements, it seems to me some of those requirements are really not all that relevant or usefu. When one considers the convienence to the entire club of an off the shelf registration and payment system is become even more difficult to understand why we need special requirements.

Not to change the subject, but in regard to Herb's question about the $40 coupons that some instructors have: Please bring your completed tech form and coupon to the table where you pick up your sticker/armband (NOT the trailer), and we won't debit your credit card if you preregistered by fax. If you register after 1/23, you must proceed to the trailer and talk to Stephanie. If you forget your coupon, you will be charged for the event and can use your coupon later.
Thanks,

Rumor has it

Ok, it's been brought to my attention that the above post lacks diplomacy. Therefore, there will be brownies at the tech table!
