Jad wrote:It is too quiet on this forum and I am so ready for some seat time on Saturday :D Also a chance to test out some of the changes for 07  I think I will be nice and run KI, though I could run KP again and hopefully really mess with that class and the BRI  . Instead, I will mess with Martin in KI and let Bill have KP :burnout:

I hope you kept your receipt for those changes Jad.....

The stars aligned yesterday and everything was as it should be....an aircooled 911 in KI cleaning up, Congrats Martin! And a air cooled 911 for TTOD.... :beerchug:

And an completely unrelated note, thanks to Eric K. and Curt for not showing up, and to Steve G. for not having his car ready!.......

Hey Dan,
I was there... and in an air cooled 911 and you showed us all what age and experience can do... 8)

You'll find me at the opposite end of that top ten list :?

But Willow may be an other story.... You will be going to willow, won't you Dan?

No AARP meetings??

Yeah, what happened to Jad in the timed runs? He was running 1:08-1:09s in practice, no?

For sure--if he had come and driven Christy's car again, I think it would have been a different story for TTOD. I have
only driven my '68 in two events so far, one last year in FI and this last one with 200 lbs. of ballast in it to run in FP. I was almost 7 seconds off Erik's TTOD in the FI config last August, and even with the 200 extra pounds in FP, I was only off your TTOD pace by 2.75 seconds yesterday. I think you're going to need a set of 17" rims with some fresh V710s to even come close to the kid.

...and Curt

WHO? Lemme see--a quick check of the autox database shows the last time he showed up for an autox was July of 2004!

...and to Steve G. for not having his car ready.
I'm afraid that when Steve has a comfy testbed like Hector's HI car for every go-fast mod that he can think of, the motivation for him to get the 914 running again is very small. :D

TT
(still cursing Jess O. for nipping me by .03 seconds for BRI TTOD. )

Steve,
You know what I mean, my only chance for a TTOD has been with you not driving your constant TTOD AR car.....

Go to willow? And get my a$$ handed to me by you, Jad, Martin, Bill and everyone else? I think I'll pass....

My story/excuse is to again blame the old Nitto tires. I was running 1:09's in practice (working hard), but never was able to get over 105 degrees of temp into the tires and I think it was just too cold for them so as it got colder, it got worse. If that isn't it, I am pretty depressed as the car should be pretty quick and I felt my driving was at least reasonable, certainly not over 2 seconds off the pace

Hopefully Willow goes better or I may have to buy a 911        or new tires

Jad,
If cold is your issue then WSIR is not the place for those tires even if you are continuously lapping. It is going to be tough to get some good times this year because the cold is there and we are running the official time trial mid AM! Bad temps for sure....where are our priroties anyway...football or racing :)

Jad was not 'one with the course' yesterday. The course was definately tighter than I ever remember the west lot courses being in the past. I think my car was hooked up a total of 2 spots on the course and thats it, the rest was feathering the gas and throttle steer.

A 3.6 wouldn't hurt either...

I agree what's up with football? Either race all weekend or stay home and watch football !!!

My story/excuse is to again blame the old Nitto tires. I was running 1:09's in practice (working hard), but never was able to get over 105 degrees of temp into the tires and I think it was just too cold for them so as it got colder, it got worse.

Even though it was cold, I had a great day. It was cold all day and I wasn't able to bring the tires past 102 degrees. Midday, I ran a 1:07:31 and during the cold timed runs I got a 1:07:95 with a full tank of gas, old Victoracers on front and new ones in the back.

Ahem...., Great driving Dan, but are you planning to show up at more Autocrosses? :surr:

See you all at Willow

It's been a few years since I've autocrossed so maybe I don't remember exactly what the goal is. I don't remember the goal being to spend a bunch of money upgrading your car to put it into a higher class yet ending up slower than people you used to be faster than. :D

So Jad.... when you transfered into the San Diego Region of the PCA, were you transfering from the Warsaw Region? :D

How you guys could let Dan take TTOD in that car, in the mechanical condition it's in, is beyond me. That engine smokes like a freaking chimney and should have been rebuilt a year ago. The gear shift feels like you are stirring a bucket of rocks. And that 2nd gear synchro is completely gone.

Dan was moth-balling his car for the entire 2007 season so he could save up for an engine and trans rebuild and a comeback in 2008. He decided Friday morning, maybe I'll run the autocross for the hell of it. Did you even check the oil Dan?

Now I gotta listen to his TTOD smack talk for the rest of his life which fortunately at his advanced age won't be all that long. Thanks guys. :D

Thanks Martin! My third timed was 107.28 and they said +1? I am going to see if Jad was working corners while I was out there...

Curt,
When I got there, I explained the situation with my second gear and everyone said .. "You don't need 2nd gear at an AX do you?"... and they would roll their eyes... So I thought they were just kidding me....But they were right!!...

ummm...one last question, not that it matters

But what happened to the TTOD ribbons?....

Steve has them all

I think they did away with that as only a few people kept winning it every event. It might be cool to have a trophy in the trailer with the names of everyone who made TTOD - at least once --- through some miracle of planet alignment, nitro and bribing the score keepers (remember I had a 1:06.xx but threw it back as I didn't want to cheat :P  )
