Club Race

OK, who is going to step up with me and try club racing at Fontana? Now that KI has dumped all the money into speed and safety equipment already, not much is needed to race. Who is going to join me, MARTIN, Kris? anyone?

Thanks for the invite, but I plan on accumulating several more years of seat time before I step up to Club Racing. TT is more than enough of a challenge for me at this point. :)

WIMP, I just started racing, well, about 10 years ago, so I guess you get another year to practice

Is there anywhere to see the results from last years club races to see approximate times for each class???

Thanks! I kept finding dead ends on my search. Now, if you can help me find 2-3 seconds over last year, I may just win a race

Jad,

Even if you find the extra 2-3 seconds (which I'm sure you can) the other drivers in Club Racing aren't going to point you by. You'll need to be more than just fast. Good luck, we're all counting on you.

ever exciting?

Postby Jackie C on Thu Feb 22, 2007 8:13 pm

Thanks Pete,
I hope to lose the "ever exciting" part for club racing. Co-exist is my mantra. I'll no doubt be the moving chicane. Spoke to a club racer who just had "his 1st 13/13". The other car was totaled. It's to be respected, for sure. I'm wondering if 5 years is enough, but I'm ready to play, happy to finish and not even worried about winning.

Jackie - You'll do great. I was refering to your adventureous background not your driving. Anyway, we will all be using our mirrors a lot more and trying to stay out of trouble.

The same link Rick sent you can also get to previous years results.

Jad-What class are you running in for the race?

I plan on being in the race, as long as I can survive the first run session :)

Vince is really who you want to get the letter from. While he is not the CDI, he does carry weight at the national level and Susan will typically accept a letter from him. That is who I went through last year.

I am just going to run in GT3S. I think the fiberglass fenders put me there, even though the car is not set up for that class  My time of 1:53 put me in the GT3 pack of best times, so at least I should be reasonabe. If I can save the couple of seconds I hope to, it could be extra fun. Of course, as Jackie and Ethan both pointed out, surviving is the most important part.

Paul Young wrote the letter and he has as much weight as Vince, so I am not too worried. Getting an appointment for the medical is the biggest problem.

GT3S huh.

At least you should have some competion. I am in GT4S due to weight (which I think is the same reason you are in 3), but there have been very few 4S cars as of late.

So the competion for us will be in the Time Trial.

Someone to play with is the key, not what class, or how fast each car should be. Hopefully we will have a long fun weekend...

Jad,
You generally can't compare TT times to an actual race time, unless of course you have complete clear sailing and no traffic or dicing.

I think you can. Remember, Fontana timed runs are run as a group, so you don't actually get a clear track for TT's either, though they do try to space you out. In racing, there is more drafting which helps times, but blocking in corners which hurt them, so it is pretty close. At Miramar, everyones fastest times where in the race, not practice or qualifying, remember??? I think the carrot helps times more than anything, anyway.

Plus, I am saying plus or minus 2 seconds, not exactly as exact science, but why don't you come join me. I believe we are in the same class for club racing, so you should keep up at Fontana without a problem Mr TTOD :roflmao:
