PCA SDR

PCA SDR is really a great group of people. It was a really fun ax put on today, despite a less than ideal day for me and my car. But, after my head gasket died, 4-5 people at least, offered me their car for timed runs. Takes a great group of people to help out that way, and one of the most generous in offering several times, was perhaps my toughest competitor, Martin. Really cool when you can compete so hard with each other, but help out so much when there are problems. Same thing happened last week at SOW with Matts helping save the weekend by lending me a 12 point tool for my CV, not to mention Steve bringing tools and expertese for everyone and missing sessions to help people. Really, just a lot of nice people out to compete, while remembering that this is just for fun.

OK, maybe it is the people and not the cars that I like so much about this club-even the air cooled guys are OK

That was really cool of Martin (and the others) to offer you his car for timed runs. Same thing happened to me at WSIR a few years ago when I did the "money shift" down the front straight and zinged my motor. This is a great group to run with.

Sorry your car broke, Jad, it was going very well on that track, which favored balance with all the sweepers. My air-cooled, rear-engined buddy Rich was your student, and he couldn't believe the way your 951 was handling compared to his 911. You definitely opened his eyes with your driving, and helped him get about 3 seconds faster in his car by the end.

Jeff had TTOD for half the day, great run.
He was on RA-1s, some good slicks or new 710s might help.

Martin I heard had a 1.08 in practice forgot what he ran in timed runs?
Kris U was quick too.

Ended up going to the Porsche Swap meet instead due to trans needing rebuild.
Lots of early cars and lots of over priced parts.. ...Its rediculous whats happened to the early car market.

No smurf yet for Eric, he was still 'borrowing' the old gold car.

Dan, when are you going to stop whinning about the tranny and just get it fixed? You are not getting any younger (unless your age counter maxed out and reset to zero ) Plus the tranny thing lost all credibility after your showing at the mostly 2nd gear AX last month

Sounds like your still angry about getting worked by a car with an iffy 2nd gear...

I had actually planned on yesterdays AX, however, I had my mechanic drive the car and asked would it be ok to do some events if I was careful, and he drove it 100ft and said no... I would rather not take the chance of destroying the trans just to keep you happy...

My first "dark side" AX. I was loaned a set of 15's with RA-1's. WOW! Talk about fun!!! Next to the 944, the 911SC has got to be one of the best cars for the money Porsche ever built. Of course, nothing beats a great 944 .... except another one!

I'm beginning to see why these rear-engined go-karts are popular. They make some fairly easy courses seem really challanging (really good course, BTW), they make all kinds of "Aaarggh .... I'm Fast .... lookit me, lookit me!" sounds when you press on the throttle, and they actually respond to steering, throttle and braking inputs. That's something new to me.

All kidding aside, it was a great day for driving. Looking forward to the next one.

Jad - I thought I saw you in the boxster? You didn't take Martin up on his car? That would be fun to see you two driving the same cars and your times.

Idea: you drive your cars one session, then each others the next session, then average the times and see who's the fastest. Of course, that would "settle things" ruin the fun of who's really fastest!

I also really enjoy spending time with every one in our club. We have great people.

I was going to take Martin up on his offer, but then the tow company said they would be there within 30 minutes to get the car and I had to go with it as Steve very generously offered to go open his shop for me so I didn't have to tow it twice. (of course they ended up taking 2 hours )

Since Martins tires were getting old, I wanted him to go first and with the time constraint I just did two laps in my dads car to get some points and test the balance of his car. Boxsters are fun, street tires and suspensions take some getting use to after my car
