PCA SDR

Is anyone selling an open trailer or know a good place in the area to get one? I'm considering getting a Carson trailer since they're local.

There are a couple of trailer mfg companies in El Cajon. Check the local yellow pages for the one on Johnson Ave., F.E. Trailers. They seem to specialize in boat trailers, but call 'em anyway. Also, try Aros in El Cajon on Johnson Ave. They used to make custom trailers, now I think they sell trailer kits to be assembled?

The local companies all make steel trailers. There are pros and cons to each, but I love my aluminum trailer. Problem is that the Al manufacturers are all in the midwest so they are even more expensive in SoCal due to feight charges.

I simply watched Craig's list for both San Diego and Los Angeles. With six months of patience, I was able to score a practically new Featherlite open trailer for half of retail.

I also got a used trailer for a very good price from a Marine who had just relocated to oceanside from Colorado.
I found the ad in the equipment trader. You can check out a copy in many grocery stores or convenience stores.

Thanks guys. I'll keep my eye on Craiglist and will watch the Equipment Trader too.

I'd like to pick one up kind of soon so we can start road racing one of our cars. It's a street car, but if we break it, it would be nice to have a trailer there with us.

The Aluminum Trailer Company lists 2 dealers in the San Diego area. I don't have the info right in front of me but you might try www.aluminumtrailer.com to see if they list dealers. If nothing else I'd hope the dealer may sell other brands as well. I think one was up near Oceanside and the other was near downtown. It's been a couple of months since I was looking at this and my mind tends lose anything over 48 hrs old.

I checked into ATC last year, and the local dealers only carried boat trailers (makes sense). I could order a car carrier, but it would cost another $1000+ for shipping, unless I could bundle eight trailers together (group buy opportunity?). Of course, things might have changed since then, so it is worth rechecking.

I just bought an 18'drop-tail Carson CarHauler from Ronco in Vista. About $2300, as I remember. Had it in stock, and gives 2% for cash. Came wired for a flat 4 plug, but with the round plug and directions. The 4' ramps were useless, but I made some 7'ers and am completely satisfied. I also made a tire rack for the front that holds 2 sets. I looked at all the venues that others specify, but didn't find what I wanted in over 4 months. Plus, I kind of wanted 'new', because that means new axels, new bearings, etc. They have 16'ers as well, which would work for a 911 for about $1800 as I recall. Good luck!

Thanks, that's the place I was considering getting it from. The one I priced was $2600 I think, probably pretty similar.

The only place I know to buy an ATC is in Newport Beach. They will cost at least twice as much as a steel one, but once you have towed one, you'll never go back. I have one that I could be persuaded to sell for less than new
