SE Lot is perfect for 944's, 912's, 914's, 356's, 986's, 987's ....(anyone seeing a trend here?). Take away some of the super-wide-sticky-tired-monster-cars with BHP/Wt. ratios only NASA could imagine, and some of the best times are from 944spec cars. Awesome!

Wish I still had my 944  ...... Okay, I'm lying. :roflmao:

Sorry I'll miss this one. See you guys and gals in June.

Lets not get carried away here, 944specs are quick, but they are no where near, "the best times". A certain smurf Blue car will probably use its wide tires and NASA power for TTOD. Also remember, the SE lot tracks are often half the length, so losing by a second on the SE is comparable to 2 seconds in the west lot.

The spec944 is quite a value either way, 1/4 the price and a fraction of the operating costs, with all the fun. That is why it is getting popular, not because of their great speed on any particular course in my opinion.

Nailed it, Jad. The spec cars really shine on a track where handling is king.

And yes, more cars are forthcoming soon. We should have the new black 944 down there this time. This is CRE #007 and ready for rental.
Marc Sexton is almost finished with his car, too.

.. All true. I consider that "some of the best times" .... as in "a good time", "a great time", some of the best times. "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times." Dickens was right.

Sorry, Jad. I guess I wasn't clear about "some" of the times and "taking away" the huge-tired high HP cars. I gotta communicate more clearly. I didn't mean to imply TTOD. I didn't mean to include the fasted built cars. Soryy Sorry Sorry.

Dan, Dan, Dan,

Relax a little, BUT...

I do consider, "some of the best times", to at least be in the top ten, and no 944 specs ever are. They must just seem faster than they are now that you are in an air cooled car :P :beerchug:

Well okay, then.

Actually, they ARE faster. (Just ask Chuck Sharp how many times he passes me at SOW   ) But from my position behind the wheel, the SC seems faster.

I'll commit to getting down there early to set up the E Z Up. Look for that. Sean Steele should be there with his big trailer as well.

Yes, I do recall that. And, it was in the West Lot .... where the 944's are much slower than in the SE Lot ("so losing by a second on the SE is comparable to 2 seconds in the west lot."). Right, Jad? I guess that top 10 doesn't qualify as being "some of the best times" ....
:(

ummm...when was this top ten?? I couldn't find it in the results. I think Curt would say "Even a blind squirrel can find a nut sometimes"...

Typically it appears as the spec cars are over 2.5 - 3 seconds 'on average' behind 10th place. The closest was 19th I saw I beleive, which out of say 110 cars is good, but I'll side with Jad  certainly not the best times...

On with the show! Image

In 2004, Tim got 10th out 87 cars. I think I am with Curt here, based on the number of events, and number of spec cars, this is maybe a 1 in a 100 occurence. The blind squirrel does that well.

Still have to disagree with the statement that spec 944's get some of the fastest times, keep trying :banghead: .

Maybe Tim, or someone else, will prove me wrong tomorrow, but I think the specs should play with each other and not worry about being the fastest cars out there.
