Buttonwillow TT videos with GGR PCA last weekend.

Postby Mike on Tue May 29, 2007 11:08 am

I had a schedule conflict with the SDR TT at Spring Mtn so I had to use my first alternate the GGR PCA TT at Buttonwillow.

On the track, in the pits and at the catered track BBQ I met a really great group of Porsche owners.
The GGR Volunteers were very helpful and organized/executed a safe, efficient and fun event.
When I can make it up to a Nor Cal track event it will be with GGR.

Couple videos....

Video of my timed lap, 2:00:09
1st in class, second overall, TTOD was a GT3 cup at 1:58.

One more, a bit longer chasing Don Miraglia's blue and silver 935.

I agree that the GGR crowd was very friendly, safe, and ran a smooth event.

Here is a pic of the SDR pits:

Not a bad time, but considering you were running the old hairpin, he was about on pace with where we were two years ago. Our cars have "evolved" since then and I would guess we would be 1-1.5 seconds faster. He is gaining, but not there quite yet. It won't be long though :surr:

Wow, thoses are pretty good times. Good Job, but as Jad said the GGR Region was not running the extended loop in turn 2.

I should have gone to Buttonwillow instead of the Southeast lot Autocross. :(

True, the current KI record for this configuration is 2:06.18 (Jack Miller).

In my own defense, I had more than half a tank of gas, it was my first time at BW, and only my fourth track event ever. I plan to be at least a second faster in December. 8)

Honestly, I measure my progress against the two of you, so I hope you can both be there in December to humble me yet again.

Yeah, those ten points you racked up were really worth it, eh? Did you leave your good tires at home again?

Kris,

You know me to well , yes in fact I mounted some old Victoracer to save my good tires. If it wouldn't be to get points, the east lot would be off my list.

BTW: it seem that your car has lost more weight over the last month or so. What happen to the rear window? :surr:

Martin isn't going to Pahrump, but are you or is that due date thing too much of an issue?

Martin is not going to Pahrump? Is he now wanting to exercise the demons of the track that ate his motor? Come on Martin, I have a nice parking spot next to me available....

Due date is 6/27, so that might be cutting it a bit close.

Spring Mountain at the end of September is a maybe, but I am planning on Buttonwillow in December.

I have other obligations (new job) and I am not really interested in going back to Pahrump.

The reason I am not excited about Spring Mountain is that it is not a track that other Series race on. I'd rather drive Las Vegas Motor Speedway - Outside.

But I will be at Buttonwillow in December and maybe at Pahrump in September.
