Also now Top Gear is available on BBC America with a new show each Monday!
Last week's show on building an amphibious vehicle was a hoot.

Thanks for the tip, Greg! I was really bummed when Discovery dropped Top Gear, so I am glad to have the gang back on my Tivo. :)

How about the guy putting the 904 into the guardrail.

Front engine?

OK, I made it through them all and it was fun
It was fun to see the old IMSA footage with the FIA, RSR and 935s that I had just seen at Monterey.
I will quibble with the lack of front engine coverage for the 924, 944 & 928, plus 968. Although you could argue they were concentrating on race history, the 924 & 944 had as much success at Le Mans and SCCA as the 914 did

1970 Le Mans 914-6 was 6th overall

1980 Le Mans 924 GTP was 6th overall as well as 12th & 13th (Derek Bell & Al Holbert)
1981 Le Mans 944 LM was 7th and 924 was 11th overall

You guys...trying to pick on us 914 guys...SHAME!!

In 1970 Sonauto entered Le Mans with a brand new car the 914-6GT...6th overall, 1st in the GT class, and 1st in the GT Category overall! This was the same car I invited to our Historic Display at the Parade.

And what about our 24 Hours here in the states...Daytona. 1971, a differant 914-6GT, 7th overall and 1st in class.

And, and...What about IMSA?

TAKE THAT!

Since I, for one, won't be able to "pick on you" much in the BRI standings :-) ... we need some way, eh? :beerchug: [/quote]

All good points, my response was not to lessen or denigrate the results of the 914 but to point out that the water-pumpers did have a racing heritage at Le Mans that was comparable, but were still ignored in the videos about Porsche
And I suppose water-pumper needs to be defined in a context as many of the Le Mans winning Porsche pumped water to the cool the engines (at least the heads)

Thanks guys- great history and labor day viewing. My schedule was yardwork, cool off in the pool, come inside & watch 3-5 episodes and repeat. Made the heat bearable. I
