Before Autox, there were Gymkhanas. Here is some vintage footage from an event in Indiana back in 1964, with a couple of 356's looking pretty capable.

1964 was the year I got my first driver's license, and I stumbled upon an event like this in a little postage-stamp parking lot in Kearny Mesa, near Cubic Corp., where I was working that summer, which was dominated by a go-kart with a little Briggs and Stratton engine, IIRC.

Times have changed...

Oh come on, that is such a 911 course

Cool old video, things have changed a bit.

Very cool ... one of the cars appears to be a very early Formula V????

Also (and I plead ignorance here) it looks like this style of course work uses a lot of single "slalom" like cones ... is the way we lay out a slalom a hangover from those days?

And did you see that nice 356 Cab do the great "backing up" portion!

As the song says "It's not only a different day...it's was a different world". Life really was easlier back in the day.

The Porsche Roadster with the "stinger" looked like Fast Time of Day!

Great video.

What a coincidence, 1964 was the year I was born. :P

Great video. Those were the cars I fell in love with when I was about 6 years old.

Oh man, I knew if I got too factual about it, one of you young whippersnappers would point out what a geezer I have gotten to be.
