Amazing control in the rain.
Also see how relaxed the passenger is.

Great stuff! He is telling his first passenger -as he is sliding- that"You got to give the people a little show, give them something for their money"
He also states that he drove 9 million kilometers in his lifetime all while sliding around the old ring in the rain.
An amazing driver..

Not to belabor the safety issue, but the first session he drove, Mr. Rohrl didn't have his helmet stapped.

Boy, that's confidence.
He strapped it after he came in to the "pits" and with the second passenger.

Good idea, Walter.

Not that this video was the best example of Walter's driving....
But, there are damn few drivers who I pay more attention to when watching driving videos. There are many drivers who are worthy of emulating and who serve as role models for me, personally, on and off the track....but Walter Rohrl is a driving god. One of the very best ever.

A must watch for any 911 driver - the hand and throttle control is incredible. Reminds me of trying to get the hang of day 1 of the performance driving school.
With the 2nd passenger when he's over taking a car, he has the wheel over 3/4s the wrong way, on the gas, over taking the car and still calmly talking to his passenger.
The best part - he never lifts!!!
