Wow - I initially thought this was too good to be true but then noticed it is on the Ca Speedway interior road course. Still, $200 for the day with professional instruction for 10 students on a local track is a pretty solid deal assuming solid instruction.

You still have to register for the speed venture event which is $260 I believe for Saturday alone. $460 for both Saturday and Sunday. plus the $200 for the instruction. But then again seat time is seat time and Fontana is close. I'm going to try it. I haven't heard back as to whether I made it as one of the 10 for the instruction. Even so it's track time close to home.

Seemed like a good deal, was up there yesterday and hung out with our fellow PCASDR folks and got some great video from Tawfik & David on the inside road course at CSW.

Just got back home. This was a great event in the infield. I was only supposed to do 1 day but Dave G twisted my rubber arm and I did both days.
I didn t do the clinic but David Ray, Dave G and Sheila did that. I ll let them post the feedback.
The instructor took Sheila's GT3 for many many laps and it was quite a feast for the eyes to see him go in 3rd gear through Turn 9
I didn t get to ride but Sheila, DAve and David all did. The GT3 got a run for its worth.
The R888's on the rear didn t survive the drifting through the sweeper ........

Now back to our humble 993's: David, Dave and I had a blast chasing each other through the sessions.
I got down to the 1:15s and I believe Dave got down to 1:16s. Top times were in the 1:10 range.
James was kind enough to loan me his camera setup and we have some fun footage.

This group was a fun group to run with as long as you stay away from the lower groups.
All kind of cars were running and it was fun chasing something other than a Porsche.

We should definitely look into doing a TT at the infield.

The videos are quite large, as they are Broadcast Quality (recorder at 1.14GB) and High Definition (HD camcorder at about 700MB with better H.264 compression) files.

Thanks Tom, I was trying to do the same with Brightcove.tv , their final quality tends to be a bit better than YouTube and tons better than GoogleVideo. I will give them a shot.

To be honest, I was a little more than skeptical attending this event knowing what happen during the Carrera GT incident in the same track configuration. But the CS track management and Speed Ventures did an awesome job of making it very safe. The pit out now allows you to see quite a bit of track before you enter which is good.

For me, this was a great opportunity to test the new alignment Mirage Int'l dialed in for me (Jae what a difference), have a notable Porsche factory racer teach you about rear engine performance and handling and having the opportunity to dice it up on the track with other makes/models as well as Dave and Tawfik.

The rear engine clinic was beneficial. It wasn’t as formal as it was scheduled since the classroom was taken by the NASCAR boys. The instruction had to be conducted in the garage, however the informal setting didn’t take away from the information and learning experience. The highlight was definitely the ride along with Carl (pro) and the verbal and written feedback of the session.

As an extra bonus: It was amazing riding inside Shelia’s GT3 and witnessing first hand the car control and instincts a pro racer has, as well as how bitch’n of a car the GT3 is (thanks Shelia)!!! We did about three laps and Carl talked me through his every move including the major drifting event he made out of the S’s. That made it worth the entry fee.

I'll try and post my battle with a Mustang Cobra!

I agree with Tawfik – let’s get a DE or TT scheduled for the infield – it’s a blast!

Sheila, I understand from David Ray that your car got a serious workout from the Pro driver there (hence the corded tires). The more you learn about these cars and what they can do, the more amazed you are.

[img]I'm glad this was a fun event, I have run with them a couple of times in the past and had a good time. That said, I was still a bit nervous of recommending the event. Wish I was there.

Like your avatar, reminds me of my first Schwinn stingray. A 1969 Lemon Peeler. It's now classified as an old school muscle bike. Basically, it was the prelude to BMX.It has a lot of similarities to my daily mbz clk
500 -a bit heavy and softly sprung, and could take alot of abuse.


Mine even came with data aquistion: ie, speedometer and mileage.
