Last time up I stayed at the "not so super" Super 8. Are any of the others (Motel 6, Homeland Inn & Suites, Willow Inn & Suites) any better? I'm bringing the wife and kid, so a clean, comfortable room would be nice.

Willow Inn is the only place to stay.
Pool for the kids... if they like it cold... as well a jacuzzi

When we were at BW with POC a few weeks ago, the Willow Inn was such a dump that I transferred over to Motel 6!!!
They are in the process of remodeling the Willow Inn and maybe it will get better. But we were in a newly painted room that looked and smelled really bad --the shower didn't work; the a/c worked sporadically.
The pool and area around it were unuseably dirty!!
Maybe that was just from the construction people there.
I don't know.

Yes, John is correct, they were remodeling and the rooms were partially done. Even still, once they are done their rooms and amentities are better than any other motel there. They also have free breakfast as part of the room at the TA across the street.

Buttonwillow events are a tough Ying/Yang for us: the track and track amenities are great. The lodging and food/restaurants are whoafully mediocre at best.

Last time I was there (returning from Portland Parade in '06) the Motel 6 and the Willow Inn both had mildew'ed showers and bath areas, musky odors, aged linen and bedding, and a generally unkept appearance. The 944 looked to be a good camper at that point. :lol:

The Super 8 is responsible for the purchase of my RV.

Note we will have camping at the December 1-2 Time Trial at Buttonwillow and they have electrical and water hookups. Call the track to reserve a spot (supposedly $45 for the weekend if you use their hookups).

Thanks for the info Robert, looks like you guys have made the decision to take the M-home and easy one for me.
This will be my first time at Buttonwillow, no prior experience with the hotels in the area.

It sounds like the Buttonwillow hotels are not the greatest, at least not until the Willow Inn finishes remodeling (I called and new carpet and furniture goes in at the end of the year).

Has anyone stayed at the Day's Inn in Lost Hills? It looks like it is only 8 miles north of the track.

I suggest you and your family set your expectations low and realize you are in the middle of nowhere and the nearest Hyatt is in LA :wink:

The owners are nice at the Homeland Inn, but like the rest on that block, the bath towels are the size of a postage stamp.

Some poeple stay in Bakersfield where the choices are better, just watch for speed traps on the road between Bakersfield and the track.
