does anyone have any first-hand opinions and/or recommendations - either for or against any particular independent porsche service provider in san diego - that they would be willing to share with me.

i'm trying to identify a reputable resource to perform routine, factory-scheduled maintenance on my out-of-warranty, totally-stock, 986 boxster and i would certainly appreciate any/all assistance.

your confidentiality will be respected and preserved.

thanks, in advance, for your assistance with this inquiry.

You can try Black Forest, Mirage International, or Deiter]s. All can accomplish normal maintenance on a Boxster.

I have had great success with the Black Forest guys--super helpful and competitive prices. I have also got some geat advice from the Dieters guy's.

A recent example is rod bearing replacement on my 944S track car---prices between these two shops were about $100 dollars different (dieters had better price) but, when I asked both the shops if there was anything else I could do while I was in there BF said "not really" and Dieters offered up an oil catch modification for $125 bucks--I was really impressed with that.

On the other hand--Black Forest always answers their phone in 2-3 rings. I personally always have a hard time speaking with anyone at Dieters and when I do reach a person it is not a tech person which is not really helpful when I have a question.

I think you would be very happy with either shop.

I think you'll be happy with Dieter's or Black Forest. I've haven't had a bad experience at either one. I know that they are both very busy shops, but they'll do their best to fit you in.

your candid responses are genuinely appreciated. i have already spoken with four different service centers, including black forest and deiter's. i'll be finalizing my decision regarding this issue later this weekend, primarily based on the advice i receive here.

+1 for Black Forest, $$ well spent and well worth it.
