While chatting with Jackie C the other day I came to realize that a number of you are also interested in sports flying. Perhaps we should consider a SDR Porsche flying club ... we could all build cheap/wackie ultralites such as the Legal Eagle

... see
http://www.betterhalfvw.com/ for details
OR ... perhaps we could buy a couple of Mooney Porsche PFMs and combine aviation with a good Porsche engine!

... see
http://www.planeandpilotmag.com/content/2005/mar/mooney.html for details

Perry,
We'll have to talk this weekend. Nice its not liquid cooled. Too bad its front engine. Perhaps we could build a pusher!

Maybe Jim Duncan will check in, he's got some great pilot/flying stories too.
I do my flying on the ground but I've been an ATC since 78'.
SAN tower since 82', pm me if you want to coordinate a tower tour.

Commercial License, Instrument Rated.
Most of our (Linda and I) time is Alaska bush flying using a Cessna, four seat tail draggers. Sold the last plane in 2000 and bought a Porsche. Love the Porsche AND this club but I do miss the flying which, for me, is similar in concentration to AutoX and Scuba diving.

... two problems, if my memory serves me, with the PFMs ... 200 lbs heavier engine AND integrated prop/throttle/mixture controls ... nothing more conservative than a pilot about his/her equipment!!!

... course we could really get into this and build a couple of Formula One Racers ... I mean ... how many of you have dreamed of Formula One Racing

sorta

Ok, ultralights, skydiving and remote control planes are all I can bring to the table, but I work for a Greg Smith SDR and we do flight physicals in No. Co...if anyone needs one-Class 1-3

Ah ... but Jackie ... the photo at the top of the page is a pretty little ultralite that your better half could build you for far less then you have in the 55 car!!

In a spin, both feet in won't help much with this group. My dad is a pilot, instrument rated, instructor, etc, but is too smart to post to the forum for now....

That's right, it's ONE foot in (but it has to be the correct one..)
"Neutralize ailerons, stomp the correct rudder to arrest rotation, recover from the dive"
When I recieved beginning aerobatic dual I heard that so many times in my headset that eventually I heard it in my sleep. The instructor didn't believe me when I told him I got it the first time. Or anything else. I'm glad I'm not his kid

Some hours in sailplanes, some hours in Cessnas, even some time in an American Yankee (with the canopy open). Oh, and like Jackie, I have stepped out of a perfectly good airplane while it was still flying.
