Miramar Speed Circuit gathering re-visited

Postby PShipman on Fri Feb 01, 2008 1:32 pm

When last we talked about this subject we inadvertantly "kind of" used the "K" word ...

Martha ... what would happen if we just planned a Porsche outing to the Miramar Speed CAFE as a get-together ... would that be an OK-Legal-Meet-Zone-8 rules outing???

A trouble maker's ... I mean inquring mind wants to know :P

Why does it have to be a club event? Can't we just decide a place and time and then have fun?

Last month I sent and email to a bunch of drivers with young kids and we filled a run group.
Kids did the Jr. driving school (which I highly recommend) and then everyone was in for open laps for 2-3 sessions.
No waivers no permission just a bunch of friends with severe competition issues.... But I digress.

Then we went to Denny's for lunch.

Really great day for only half the price of a 2-day time trial...

Steve,

What about those of us without kids? Can we go to this informal get-together, or do we have to borrow a niece or nephew?

I'm interested, and I think my 6 year old would also be interested. Weekends are booked until the 23rd, but we're pretty open after that...

Mark, you can borrow my son. Preferably for blocks of time roughly equal to a nice meal and a movie, to ensure you get sufficient quality time...

Not a problem Mark...
You can borrow my 14-year old daughter Staci.
And transport is not a problem since you are only a few doors down.
But beware, she beat one of the adults last time out (an AX/TT driver) and was really upset at only taking out one of the grown-ups.
She is expecting her own spec car for her 16th birthday (Purple with 2 yellow stripes down the middle) So watch your back!
And feeding her is the cheap part... soda and a corn dog and she is good.

Tim Comeau pulled something together a few weeks back with some 944 owners and it worked out fine as a non-club event. Now if they served alcohol it could be a Tuesday social. Let me see now, karts and drinks, that could be trouble... Never mind :)

I thought one had to be at least 16 to autocross and 18 with valid driver's license to TT.

How old

Postby chris914 on Fri Feb 01, 2008 9:23 pm

How old do kids have to be? I have a 8 year old boy and 10 year old girl and myself.

So three kids total if you ask my wife.

Hey Perry,

If dogs (and cats) count then I have enough for everybody! A nick over 200 at last count.

OK - I see that borrowing a kid is pretty easy to do. When do we race. I'll make sure I bring my kleenex so I can cry myself to sleep after I get chicked by a 14 year old girl.
