Transponders for Fontana?

Does anyone know if two driver cars need two transponders for Fontana or have they also adopted the GREAT new system we did at SOW? Not only did it save money, but it saved time by not having to constently switch the transponders back and forth in the non-existant spare time between run sessions.

Thanks to the timing crew!

Don't thank anyone just yet.

Yes, the same system will work at Fontana. However, it has been decided that the transponder rental price is per driver, not per transponder. So when two people share, the price is the same as for two separate transponders (which, if available and desired, people can still have). Thus, drivers intending to share rented transponders at Fontana should still purchase quantity 2. You will be provided with 1 transponder for the event and will not have to change it out.

Are the lap times from SOW going to be posted to MyLaps or are the times just for on site tracking (pun intended)?

I believe that because we do not use AMB software for timing, only their transponders, we can not post times to that site. There is an excel file available with all the lap times

The Time Trial results can't be posted for the reason Greg mentioned, but PCA Club Race results are being posted on http://www.mylaps.com

Shouldn't that be per car?? Maybe its just me, but the device never moves, there is no extra labor involved as you have to time that person regardless. Yeah, its only an extra $30 , but c'mon.. this is rediculous. At the very least if you need to get extra money , make it $10 or $15 for an extra driver in the same car.

It would also be interesting to know what the thought process was on this decision.

For anyone who has two drivers in a car--

I have an AMB direct power "Pro" (the blue unit) transponder with a driver identification interface. This unit is designed for cars with two drivers.

The drivers ID unit plugs into a reciever and recognizes which driver is behind the wheel. I can send you pics---If interested call AMB and ask them about this unit---they are typically used at IMSA & Lemans type events. The unit is used and new cost $1,300 according to AMB. Make me an offer-- Transponder #0989070

I also have a rechargeable AMB tranx260 (with no charger)--although I think Shon wants it.
lemme know if anyone is interested before I put them on Ebay.
