SDR and OCR dead heat

Thanks to Steve Equina, the Schuessler's, Vision Motorsports and the rest of the OCR for a spectacular day of AXing. For those who didn't attend, the track quality reigns over the Q, and we were awarded trophies and all cleaned up by 5pm. There was in excess of 100 drivers who were pampered by VM with a sit down continental breakfast & catered BBQ which was top notch. They also supplied cold drinks, hats and T shirts for all. They have a great PA with decent music, too. What's not to like. About 20 of us muscled up to OCR's David and Goliath challenge. Our top 5 were Pierre Maurier,Carl Vanderscuit,Jerry Griffin, Gary Burch and Tom Meissner. Very cool day. Now we need to have a challenge on our turf. [/i]

I agree, it was a cool event today. So a dead heat? I didn't hear what happens next to resolve this?

Anyhow, bring on the next one!! Thanks again Jackie for instructing me today :)

Thanks for all the kind words. It was GREAT FUN! Mark's David and Goliath Challenge shirts were a great hit. Ron and I need to set at least three more dates. I guess if that was Goliath's "B" Team yesterday "DAVID" will have to pick up the pace:)

Also, Thanks for all the help yesterday!

PS: OCR is pretty good at getting sponsorship.
 HELLO Hooser Tires! Do we have a deal for you

OCR WILL NOT BE INTIMIDATED BY BIG BAD GOLIATH

Have Fun! Steve

Steve,

The OCR event was very well organized and everyone seemed to have a lot of fun with the shirts, especially you with your announcements .

Thanks to the OCR drivers for supporting and purchasing the shirts! I need Garey Cooper and Sam DaCosta to let me know asap if they still want the shirts they ordered. If SDR wants some shirts, I suggest they contact me tonight at Motor Head Monday or next weekend at the PDS. I don't expect to have any left after that. We may need to talk Gary into another limited edition version cartoon for the next batch of shirts.

I have a few pics that I will post on both forums later tonight.

GO GOLIATH!!!

Steve, OCR Math is a little fuzzy to me. Top BRI gets 1 point? Shouldn't it be a 10 point scale. 1st gets 10 points and 10th place gets 1 point. That would make it;

1. Team Goliath - Carl Venderschuit KP 1995 968
2. Team Goliath - Pierre Maurier KP 1995 968
3. Team David - David Palmquist FI 1969 911
4. Team David - Christiam Van Fleet FI 1972 911
5. SGR (soon a TD)-Chris Grivas NS/S 2007 Cayman S
6. Team Goliath-Gary Burch FS 1971 911
7. Team David-Rod Taylor FI 1969 911T
8. Team David-Hideki Okano MS/S 2007 Boxster
9. New Jersey Region Lou Hudyman 2006 Cayman S
10. Team David-Duane Selby 2007 Cayman s
11.Team Goliath-(OCR CDI)Jerry Griffin 1978 911SC
(This WILL be Corrected:) by the next D & G)
12.Team Goliath - Tom Meissner 2003 996 C2

Team Goliath points:10+9+6+2+1=28 Points
Team David points:8+7+5+4+3=27 Points

Of course, that's just my interpretation of how the scores could be computed

If I remember correctly, the goal is to have the lowest score possible. So, if that's the case I'll take your math this time around!

Thanks to all of the SDR folks for making the trip up. This gives me a great excuse to make it back down to San Diego after a 4-5 year hiatus. :D

Also, this is actually open to all Zone 8 regions. Because were all just "little David's" compared to Goliath :P
Thus, first place gets one points etc. The lowest score counts.

Hey GOLIATH...were are coming

Boy, there is some strange accounting going on here. Is this the "new math"? What did Mark Twain say--"There are lies, damn lies, and then statistics" or something like that?

The correct way to judge this would be to add up the total indexed time for the 5 top-placing members in each region, and the lowest total wins. A time that waxes the field by 2 seconds should be rewarded more than one that wins by a tenth, or a hundreth. With this "place=points and low score wins" system, you get the same increment no matter what the margin, instead of assigning true relative values to the total depth and amplitude of the team's achievement.

You guys are going to get SO WAXED when you come down here and have to deal with Goliath's A-team on their home court, Steve! :P

I have got to get my FP-class BRI car out of the shop and back on the road.

Hi Tom
Your above point system is so sophisticated it defies rational analysis

So what are you saying. You going to "WAX" our cars for us

It is really a great American political tradition that "might makes right" and the "big guys make the rules." Since we're the Goliath here, we should naturally get to lay down the laws. Unless, of course, it turns out when we see the results that our indexed time total was higher than yours, when we will promptly make another motion to change the tabulation to some other scheme under which we can dominate. It's really very simple.

It's the Dolphin that gets waxed, silly!

Fun day at el toro-thanks OC! I could argue that we got the Bri but I can wait till they come on down to our turf and give them a real whoopin. On the pampering (food and more food, drink, tshirts) as Jackie mentioned above, they have us hands down. Though, I could have used a little more shade and a cold one at the end. Thanks Gary B for your last one.

The course was good for the 968-sweepers, lots of turns, two slaloms and two short straights (rev limit in 2nd), and the surface was like glue. Have to thank my co-driver Pierre for the continuing suspension tweaking and making the car such a blaast to drive. I started the day in the 986 and after three laps realized the car is not at all set-up. Major oversteer. Fun but slow. Almost 4 sec. off the pace.

A fun day and a fun track. They tried to load us up on free food and gifts to spoil our focus, but, in the end we came thru. Let's see, 20% of Goliath drivers made the top 10 and 6% of David's...

WOW Glad someone corrected the math

I believe Lou is from New Jersey and had not changed his region to OCR yet and Chris has also changed his region last week(says he doesn't even know anyone from SGR and runs with OCR  ).
