They are expensive, about $895.
Soon I expect they will be as common as helmets and gloves.
Jae, Roland and I just got ours.
Maybe Kary can get the club guys a group rate??
Show your wife the movie, she'll  make you buy one....if she still lets you track at all...

The HANS is superior with respect to FRONTAL impacts, but what about side impacts? :?
I wish there was a device that was good for 360 degrees. Any new info out?

We actually bought them at the recent San Diego Vintage race.
We got them direct from a vendor, took our helmets and saved $50 for the installation, which you could do yourself. Call Jae and he'll give you the number of the shop in LA we got them from.

Right TC frontal impacts, I guess in the case of an unavoidable impact I'll just have to remember to drive into it front end first.
Now that the frontal impacts have been safely resolved I'd like to see more studies of side impacts too. My race seat has the helmet side wings. But I've heard that in some cases those can rotate the helmet, perhaps the tethers on the HANS might prevent the helmet from over rotateing? I do know my wife was happy to know I have a HANS. I'll use it whenever I wear my helmet, AX, go Karts whatever.

So many head and neck devices available now...
Tim what kind protection do you use/suggest for frontal impacts?

Would it do any good on a Kart since you are not strapped in?

The ultimate safety device is what Sylvester Stallone's police car had in the movie "Demolition Man"

Martin: I think you could gain the same affect with 200 cans of "Great Stuff".

If you guys are serious about a group buy on Hans devices I can look into it. Send me an e-mail if you are interested and I will see what kind of price we can come up with.

Hey there all, I looked into the possibilities and for many reasons the Hans Device company are not that willing to do anything to help us out. They do not even have a dealer in San Diego and feel that going up to LA is more than sufficient. So I guess if we want one we will have to go up to LA or order via the internet directly from them.

I will see if I can find some others around the country that may want to help us out that are already dealers. I will let you know when I know something!

Sorry!

Kary: they weren't even willing to let you be the San Diego dealer? That kind of sucks! Must be nice to have a Monopoly!

Yeah, I spoke with them about a group buy for the spec 944 guys about a year ago and was told, in no uncertain terms, that there was no discounting "because we dont have to".
