May 31 DE

Postby elcap00 on Mon Apr 28, 2008 6:39 am

I just checked and the DE for the 31st is cancelled. Any chance that we will have a DE in May or June?

What happened? Did the stadium pull our date?

Got pulled a long time ago. Just didn't get removed from the calendar.

That's terrible news! The DE's at the stadium are the best for track time, instructing, testing, or just having some fun. We need more of those. :D

I just signed up for the OCR autocross the next day (June 1)at El Toro to get my fix. Not quite the same as a DE at the Q though.

Tim's right, DE at the Q is a good bang for the buck - provided the paving chunks don't do much damage!

Unfortunately, the Stadium management made an error and we cannot fix it at this time. The reason that it was not cancelled immediately is that I thought we could get it fixed, but I was unsuccessful. There are no more available dates for the West Lot through July.

We will meet with the other car clubs to obtain dates for August through December sometime in June (or before that if we can get them to make a meeting). Until then there is nothing we can do. I guaranty that we will get DE dates for the second part of the year! :) :!:

Curt and I looked at other venues including El Toro and Streets (SOW), with no luck. If anyone knows of a venue that we could use, please contact either Curt Yaws or myself.

Hi chuck,
What is the chance of connecting with Speed Ventures for a infield only at Cal speed way? They have several dates for this and as expensive as it is they might be willing to incorporate us? Just a thought.

Yes, I'll second the idea. Although I don't know how .... ahem ... "careful" ... the drivers are who drive Speed Ventures, I'm sure the PCA drivers would be safe ... if a bit cautious.

the infield is a really fun route (there are a couple of posts on YouTube from in-the-car videos) and it used to rent for $7500.00 a day including corner workers and ambulance service. That was in 2004.

It's big enough to accomodate a lot of cars, too. And except for the dog-leg/"turn 9" there is plenty of run-off room for most of that route.

I'd seriously consider participating if it could happen.
