Team Got Porsche? gets 2nd overall in 6 hour Enduro

Postby gulf911 on Mon Jun 16, 2008 2:40 pm

Thanks to Erik K, Jad D, Jads Dad , Ralph L. and Bill I. we had a 2nd place finish out of 11 teams at the 6 hour Kart Enduro.
At about 3 hours I was saying...You mean its only half way over?? :surr: I verified my AARP card was good, just in case they had to resusitate..

After almost 6 hours of running, 4 fuel stops, 1 mandatory 5 minute stop for tires and maintenance, and 24 mandatory stints, at about 9 minutes left we were in first place, 14 seconds ahead of the 2nd place team, we were just starting to celebrate when somebody did some math.. . after realizing the 2nd place kart was now running consistent 56.5 second laps (fastest lap times of the day  ) about 2+ seconds a lap faster than Erik at the time. We later found out they had come in an additional time near the end for brand new tires while ours were about gone. All we could do was watch as the 2nd place kart passed us and won , several seconds ahead of us. All in all it was exciting and unbeleiveable fun...

Thanks guys, It was a real pleasure being part of the team. :beerchug:

Id have to say this was the most fun I have had in a go kart. I qualified our kart in 3rd. With the Le Mans style start i was able to run and jump in just a hair faster than the two karts in front of me, I lead about the first 4 laps then got passed for the lead, we then ran nose to tail for quiet awhil.with No real point in doing a deprate inside move this early in the race even though i was close. Here is a fun pic, Im the second car I think we were like this for about 7 laps with bump drafting down the straits.

P.S. thanks again Dan for The invitation to this event. And to all my teamates for keeping the kart clean and running a solid pace, Great Job Guys!

Way to go, guys! Couldn't have had a more winning team. Tires .... It's always about the tires.

Great show! You'll take 1st next time.
