Sunday, July 27 Zone 8 AX date change & added DE

Postby Bill Behun on Thu Jun 19, 2008 9:27 am

Qualcomm Stadium has scheduled a concert at the stadium on Sunday, July 27 - the day of our Zone 8 AX. We would have to be out of the stadium by 3:30. We couldn't get the usual 12 laps in for this AX.

Since many Zone 8 folks will drive many miles to get here and then only be able to drive maybe 9 laps (not good), we have decided to:

1) Cancel the July 27 Zone 8 AX
2) Make July 27 a DE - west lot
(will need at least 40 entries to make this happen)
3) We wil have the Zone 8 AX on Sat Aug 2 in the west lot

Bill,

Would the DE event have to picked up and out of the Q by 3:30 also?

Thanks, Rick

Rick - good question.

Yes, we'd have to pick up the course by 3:30 - don't have to leave.

We will locate the trailer at the north end and we can load the trailer and maybe have a beer after 3:30 - just really have to clear the area at the south end for the stadium to let the concert goers to start parking.

Chuck Sharp (DE chair) was at the stadium meeting when all this happenned. We decided since typically many folks/cars don't make it through the whole day and do not run the final DE session, we could do almost a full DE on this date, still get lots of drive time, satisfy the stadium.

We will be doing our own corner working - no paid corner workers. Hmmm, we can hassle our driving buddies with the passing flag!

Cool!

But, uh-Boy ... you'll hear it from the Peanut-Gallery about having to work corners. :grr: For me, I can take my student out to the toughest corner and show her/him the different lines.

I wonder if Carl will show up with that "special cone" for Dan Andrews...... :roflmao:

Sorry, Dan: I'm all out of tires for this DE. You'll have to bring your own this time. :bigcry:

dad,
Ill just bring you a set of hankook Z214's to mount up for the DE if you want. or use the street tires, I would. it will teach you to respect the car a little more under continuous lapping. ha ha. Then we can save the old RA1's for when we really need them. let me know. Ill bring an extra set down tomorrow.

i think he means usable. If its slightly corded on one side, and you can color with a sharpie and mount that side on the inside of the wheel. that would work.

The AX form is for both AX and DE. So mark the 27th but I believe the cost is $60.
