944 gathering this Wed evening at Foster's Freeze

Postby Tim Comeau on Mon Jul 28, 2008 8:34 pm

This is not a Porsche Club sanctioned event, though it might result in more Porsche owners joining PCA.
The gathering time for Wednesday evening is 6:30pm til dark......~ 8:30. The Foster's Freeze is on Waring Rd off freeway 8. Take Waring Rd up the hill and as soon as it levels out we'll be on the right side.
I can't believe how many fans of the 944 types there are right here in the San Diego area! There's already 72 names on the list!
Last time we got together at the Miramar Speed Circuit we had about a dozen cars including 944, 924S, 944S2, and 1 or 2 full race 944 Spec class cars.
Let's see how many cars we can get this time. I'll bring some door prizes as well as some technical references like option code charts, paint code charts, tranny gearing charts.

As I said, we might even get some new PCA members. A guy who's not in the club yet came by when he saw the 944's and it turns out he's got an 87 Carrera. We invited him down to the AX.
So this time, even with some last minute cancellations, there were 15 944 types that people brought out, including two 944S2's and our first turbo. It was a nice gathering of about 20 people and only about half were club members.
When my Liqui-Moly rep heard we were getting some 944 people together, he brought a bunch of product over to the shop for us to hand out. Since the labels were in German, we felt we should point out that the wheel cleaner was NOT for the steering wheel.
One of the members of the group works at Starbucks so he brought a bag of coffee and contributed it to the door prize pool, which was really cool.
The crowd had a good time showing their cars and seeing what mods others had done to their cars.
Oh, and the guys at Foster's Freeze are getting better at making a Porsche Peanut Parfait just the way I like it. :D
Thanks to everybody for bringing your 944's out. It was fun and we'll make it even bigger next time.
