Love my car, Lapiz Blue is the sexiest color in the Porsche lineup.

Notwithstanding the chips in the paint from an overeager AX racer (names won't be mentioned for those chirping their very fine tires on an untimed event at the school...grrrrr), I'm sure a hazard of the environment. (and surely their must be a rule about peeling out and distance that I MUST come to the next car ahead or something like that. In 5-10 seconds I can cover some ground, so don't call me up to chip the paint, so that I can be sitting there waiting for the green flag...)

Yet, I've come to realize looking over the rules for Concourse that this takes a special breed of individual. I salute all of you in the detail of your work . The idea of running a Q-tip around the engine compartment is so beyond my idea of reality it is hard for me to comment.

That said, I'm getting cushions to fit around my car, and with the cover and a fine wax I hope for good luck until the next AX. Once again I salute those who have the stomach for Concourse, which is undeniably the hardest event for competition.

I have driven myself and my wife crazy knocking smudges off of the car... "Is that a new chip?....ARRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!" or "The Dog Does NOT ride in the Porsche."

Can you explain this?

I assumed he meant that the car in front of him took off with the rear tires spinning and throwing up marbles, etc., which created some paint dings.

If I had the HP/torque, I might be doing that also...

He may have a point about holding the second car back a little to avoid spray from the departing car - anyone else experiencing paint dings when second in line to take off?

You might want to make your car a garage queen if this is an issue. You will get more rock chips on the freeway than auto-x'ing.

On a related note, in regular auto-x, peeling out at the start gains nothing and is not tolerated by most auto-x teams. In fact, those that do that find they have poor times due the the tight corners that follow the start line

Not sure if I am understanding what bryanearll means here.

1) AutoX is a form of motorsport
2) if you are worried about paint chips keep some room between your garage queen and the car that is going to start. Don't get me wrong I don't like chips in the paint.

Concour is for garage queens, best push it of the trailer in a air tide bubble

It's my first Porsche and I've only owned the car 6 weeks. Nicks in the paint make me unhappy.

That said, it's part of motorsports. It just seemed to me that allowing a little (20-30') of space was no big thing.

Living at the top of the 605 freeway I'm doomed before I start as I'm surrounded by the gravel pits of Irwindale. We can be taught accident avoidance but pepple avoidance is very difficult.

Put the 3M material on the front of your car. It will elimiate chips on the freeway and auto-x.
