The FIA has got to be the worst governing body in history. The best race I have scene was ruined by them :banghead: :grr: :grr:

I think the F in FIA stands for "Ferrari" :(

FIA means Ferrari Is Advertising.

If Ferrari are not contenders a lot of the audience goes home, particularly in Asia I understand.

There are 5 races to go, 3 in Asia, and Bernie wants to make sure the audience numbers are there to justify his take.

All sports have become an extension of the advertising industry in some way, I think F1 more than others.

So we have "penalties" that push the results the way the advertisers want.

The rule says: You cannot gain a position by using a shortcut or bypass, and Lewis did pass Kimi and didn't really give the position entirely back. What was Lewis thinking entering the chicane? It's just Kimi the worldchampion and he will jump out of my way. Kimi had the turn. In my opinion Lewis didn't race clean during that passing manoever from the entry of the chicane all the way to turn 1 and deserved the 25 seconds penalty. I am pretty sure he knows it too, just look at his facial expression when the reporter asked him to describe the incident.

The only problem I have with the FIA decision is that they didn't give Lewis the penalty before the end of the race or before the podium. This must be painfull to win a race and then having to give your trophy back. For this decision I agree the FIA does more than stink.

I think there's more than one way to look at the incident between Raikkonen and Hamilton. As Hamilton said, he had the lead into the chicane and was forced off by Raikkonen, and if he wasn't behind him how could he have drafted him up the front straight? And concerning that, wasn't there more than one defensive move by Raikkonen?

The in car video shows that Hamilton did not have the lead into the chicane and that Kimi clearly still had the inside line. Heck LH probably missed his braking point too. After coming across the chicane Hamilton pulls up behind Kimi and then immediately pulls out and passes him, he never really even lifted. Had Hamilton actually slowed and taken that corner normally he would not have been on Kimi's gearbox coming onto the straight.

The FIA definitely mishandled this, but what is new there?

Sorry to spam the forum with pictures.

I guess it is a though call, but Lewis did pass Kimi taking the shortcut and it give him the advantage. I would even bet Kimi crashed because he was not happy due to this pass and maybe a little due to the backmarker. :D

Is there any good video of Kimi's crash? I had a question of whether he was punted from behind by one of the backmarkers, perhaps a Williams.

I am sorry, but that is the closest thing to racing I have seen in F1 for awhile and if they hope to make the sport interesting, it should not have been penalized. Two cars raced hard and didn't take each other out. That is racing, plus Hamilton did in effect let Kimi by the next corner when Nick pulled back on the track in front of them and Kimi got a lead over Hamilton. Kimi led, Hamilton easilty passed kimi again and deserved the win. Then Kimi crashed (due to too much throttle, not the Williams in my opinion) as Hamilton was quickly pulling away. Thus Massa, clearly the 3rd best car was given a win in which he in no way deserved. IF Kimi had finished second, and they gave him the victory that would have been one thing, but to give it to a clearly slower car just doesn't seem right.

Does anyone know where the 25 seconds came from? Is that a standard number for a drive through or is it track specific or pick at the whim of the FIA as it seems way to long for a drive through at this track. Doubt it would have made a difference, just curious.

How do you define who has the corner when Lewis was ahead by a couple of feet and it does seem he was able to make the corner, so why do you think it was Kimi's corner?

I would not have given him the corner and would have kept my line. Lewis was on the outside and gambled by trying to force by. But for that to work one would had to give up the corner, which apparently neither of them did :D

I agree. It was the most fun race to watch since probably my favorite battles between Ayrton Senna vs Nigel Mansell. But, in this case I would have pulled an Ayrton Senna and pushed Lewis off of the track.

I can live with all of that, but when Lewis slows to let Kimi pass and gets behind him, to me, that satisfies the unfair advantage rule. Sure, if there was a wall there, you could say he would have crashed thus any further racing is an unfair advantage, but to make a driver decide while racing how much time should elapse before he passes back seems ridiculous to me. He gave the lead back and repassed, that is how I always thought the rule worked. Can you even imagine that call being make against Michael? No way!

LET THEM RACE :burnout:
