Thinking about the TT at Willow and is it wise to drive up there on R compound tires (Dunlop SP's)?

Thanks,

Sean

There are definitely people who do it, as long as there is reasonable tread on the tires. I would hate to be caught in rain with R's though, especially really worn ones. My concern with doing it has always been "will I have enough tire left to drive home after the weekend?"

Sean, I assume since you are referencing "R" compound tires and Dunlop's you mean the Dunlop Super Sport Race tire? (There are many Dunlop SP tires) At any rate, I have been using them to drive on the street, school, auto-x, and big track and have not had any issue. Still a lot of tread left. As far as durability on the street I have had no issues (though I do avoid pot holes and general debris and poor surfaces).

You may not be aware of the people in the club that have trailered back cars for people of have been stuck, but there have been many who have helped out in a pinch....though there is nothing like the feeling that you do not have to worry about getting home.....that is as long as the tow vehicle does not have a problem

I am driving up on 50% Pilot Sport Cups and have frequently gone up and back on Kumhos that appears to be at 20%. As long as its dry and your not showing cord your proably fine.
