Great Pics! Thanks everyone for a great weekend. I had fun and from the smiles on their faces Sunday afternoon, I'd say that the students had fun as well.

Thanks to everybody for another great weekend. I never tire of laughing and scratching with my friends and fellow instructors and their tireless volunteer efforts. It was great to see so many new faces and cars and finish the day with happy students! Special mention to Zoli who can drift AND take pictures. Do I see another Greg Phillips in the making?

Dave, your son is one of those acorns too. Martin always coaches us both about the 'line' when we drive anywhere. There were 4 or 5 fresh student shifters out there. It was fun to see how good they were by yesterday afternoon.

P.S. I'm sure all those video driving games help.

I would have loved to have attended, but my cousin (who is my affiliate member) could not find a decent boxster to buy in time to take to the driving school. We wanted to do this event at the same time. So when I found out at the last AX there were spaces left for this, I asked if he could run his RX-7 in place of a Porsche. I was told no by some guy who announced the available spaces that only Porsches are going to be allowed. When I came down to watch though, I saw a Noble, a Mini, and a Corvette running around. Maybe there are double standards going around in this club? Thanks, I guess!!

Not sure about yesterday specifically, but when I did the school last year, the instructors were allowed to bring whatever they wanted, but the students were all in Porsches. The instructors are getting seat time as their only payment for sacrificing the weekend, seems like a reasonable approach to let them drive their other cars if they want. Mind you, I don't know for sure that is what happened yesterday, but that would be my guess.

You guessed right.

It was entertaining to see the "kids" stall it on the starting line (twice!!) and once they got the car moving turn a clean fast lap.
As for "other" cars, instructors can drive anything they want. The Mini was being run because the student(s) unfortunately blew the trans in their pristine early 911 saturday.

The last three posts pretty much sum it up. Students need to drive a Porsche. The one student driving a Mini did so after transmission problems on Saturday in his 1970 911S. Rather than forcing him to drop out of the school, we allowed his "replacement". Several years ago we did allow non-Porsches. The results were disasterous for a number of reasons. The result was that students must bring a Porsche to drive. The exception to the rule is what happened this time. A mechanical problem with the car.

The instructors are teaching at this course for no other compensation but the satisfaction of helping teach new students to see their incredible progress - and to get to drive them around at the end to show them what its like. Many of our instructors have highly modified Porsches that cannot be practically driven on the road for any great distance or are not licenced for the road. So, they are not restricted on what they bring to drive.

A personal "THANKS!!" to all the volunteer Instructors, Chairs ( Corner-Working, Equipment, Logistics, and more) and folks at Black Forest for making this a great school. The students appeared to be all smiles with heaps of seat time. Feedback from the Instructors was mostly positive on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, and we managed to have minimal incidents or conflicts. Great job everyone.

A special apology to Leigh Rayner, Carl and Chuck for not fully and adaquately disclosing the Instructor Run Session Plan I had. It proved very confusing at first, I know. Fortunately (and luckily), it worked!

Finally, a big thanks to Jackie Corwin who not only worked corners for the Students Sessions, but worked corners for both Instructor Sessions and didn't drive. Jackie, you've raised the bar on volunteerism.
