repaving @ Qualcomm??

Postby oregonduckman on Mon Dec 01, 2008 2:31 pm

Am wondering how much longer we can hold AutoXs @ Qualcomm given the condition of the parking lots. Seems like it is getting much more difficult to come up with track layouts that don't include pothole or loose paving, are there any alternatives available to us?

I doubt they'll ever repave the Q, as many in this group have put the stadium in the NotForLong list. Property is too valuable for Condos, commercial, ect...
Right now the AX team just has to keep being creative with the track design, you could always attend an OCR Ax @ El Toro in Irvine. My.02

I think Rick is right. The "Village in the Valley" is just a couple of years away. Soon, there will be rooftops where Top-time-of-day used to be. :surr:

Condos. Commercial properties. Taxes. The whole dang thing. The city of SD can no longer allow 160+ acres of non-taxable, city-owned land to just site there waiting for car clubs, tent sales, and concerts when it can be charging millions .... maybe even bilions ... in property taxes. Better start planning for the big tracks now. Soon, California Speedway in Fontana will be the "close" venue.

With impending devlopment looming large and the city out of $$, there will probably never be another fresh surface at the Q ... until the condo's are built.

There are some places around, they may just not be as large.
